    Wyoming corner crossers prevail

I am four square behind public access to public land. I understand private property rights, but public property rights exist as well. Most (not all) of the conflict about this would go away if the public would treat private land like it was their land, treat public land like it was their land...

The one about the winter floor replacement project...

Okay, here's spring, and because I've my whole house emptied for new paint and carpet, I've no room in the driveway to finish the last project on the boat, but by mid next week we'll be there. After last falls trailer upgrades, motor maintenance, wiring redux, and new decks and carpet: I...

    12ga pump shopping

Nah. Not if you can shoot.

    12ga pump shopping

Frankly, there’s s lotta good pumps and autos out there. Im a sucker for fine sporting equipment, and I love my SBE II. But whether it costs $200 or $30000, if it doesn’t fit, you won’t shoot it for shit. Get one that fits.

    12ga pump shopping

I own 870 express, wingmaster, and Benelli. The Nova fits better, and is adjustable. The wingmaster is old and beautiful. The Express is not satisfying. You’ll never regret the Benelli. And 3 1/2 generally shoot the same oz of shot (of the same size) as 3”. It’s kind of a push.

    Seattle Orvis Store Closing

Orvis stuff was aspriational to me. The catalog came every year, and I'd look at the fishing and wingshooting stuff at length. The dog beds were nicer than our couch. The clothes all were out of my demographic, and yes, the bundles of georgia fatwood kindling seemed really, really stupid. Over...

THE DRAKE magazine - any subscribers, thoughts???

I faded from the target demographic as Fly Rod and Reel, American Angler, and others followed most of the hook and bullet press into the great beyond. I currently subscribe to American Fly Fishing and Drake. Both provide me with glimpses of angling life I’ve little hope of experiencing, much...

    Carp Guide??

I think maybe their math includes some things you're not adding in. Insurance, guide/business licensing, launch/recovery time, time to shop from launch and back, and other fixed costs I don't know about are all about the same whether it's a 1/2 day or a full day. A full day is just a few more...

    What's your favorite console fish/depth finder/charter thingy?

A very familiat looking console. I got a good price on a Humminbird helix 7. I haven’t used it yet, but since humminbird upgraded their stuff and discontinued support for Helix units, prices are dropping and features are pretty good….gps, spotlock, charting, interface with my minnkota.

    The good boat deal thread

Yeah, the old yellowstone of mine had in and outwales of quartersawn doug fir, with blocking of ash, throughbolted with stainless. I had the ash in inventory, and ripped and steambent a vg fir 2x6 to make the wales. Otherwise, all the interior verticals I made from ash, the horizontals I made...
