Non-Fly 2023 - Dirtbag PS Salty Salmon Fishing

Just got to finished fishing MA 10 for some late night pink action. But missed the pinks! I heard it was real good this morning but they didn't show up tonight. Instead ended up with three kings to the boat. Missed that opener by two days :(. Overall went 4/8 with 1 pink. Got a friend's kid...

    Non-Fly Canadian Mooching Reels

Hey guys. Question for you. Is there really any difference between a Canadian Mooching Reels and Fly reels. I bought a 9 foot rod with a two handed rod grip off the forum here and I've paired it with a tfo mangrove reel. I've that combo for tuna, but I'm not getting out this year. I've been...

    WTT Borrow Electric Reels

Hey guys, I am heading out to Sekiu on Labor Day and am hoping to take advantage of the Halibut opener. I was wondering if anyone has some electric reels with Scotty plugs that they are willing to lend out or even rent for a couple days.

Non-Fly 2023 - Dirtbag PS Salty Salmon Fishing

Well Gig Harbor Salmon derby was a bust for us. We caught about a 10 lb fish early morning but it had an extra fin. It may have been enough for us to make it to the top 10. We moved around following the bait and it sounds like the winning fish came from our spot that produced fish so we should...

Non-Fly 2023 - Dirtbag PS Salty Salmon Fishing

Might as well start up the talk here. Last weekend fished up in MA 9. My inlaws have a family tradition of going to Jetty Island so I convinced them that I could ferry them on the boat instead and heck, I could go fishing with my Dad early before they got there. Ran up just short of...

    Ocean Coho Leaders

Earlier this this year I was using 50 lb fluro for trolling flashers. Basically to repeat, they are not leader shy. That said, this weekend they barely touched the 50lb and I dropped it down to 30 and it made a huge difference

Prepare for the influx of dirtbags!

They are still very popular in 11 and 13. I would say half the boats trolling are running meat rods

    Puget Sound

Last year I tied up a trolling fly with a stinger hook to use behind a flasher. I had already caught multiple fish on this fly, but somehow I had a coho take the hook off the stinger loop without breaking the loop. Straight up magic ring magic trick

    What Are You Eating?

My favorite is a bit of both. Get your oil hot and then brown your butter before placing your salmon in. Flip and add another pat of butter.

It's crazy where the creel guys come from. A lot are either in school or just off of school and coming from out of state. DFW did a rockfish identification quiz a bit ago. Maybe they should have a salmon one and train their own staff.

    Cooking Crab

I saw someone trying this on Monday and that poor crab was so mutilated you couldn't recognize it. I'm sure it works great fort someone more experienced and had been shown how to do it correctly.
