Melissa hooked TWO big goats on one jig and landed both. She then topped it off with a beautiful Kagami. My absolute favorite sashimi. Then a client from Washington took his first GT...he was shocked at the raw power And the day was capped by sashimi cut by Nate, using the hand forged...

We instituted a slot limit on our boat this year for uku/green jobfish to protect the big breeders. All uku over 12 pounds are released now, so Dalton was a little grumbly when we made him release this 16 pound beauty 😂..... We had steady action on 6-10 pounders and several nice bonus...

I have a video of one coming right at me repeatedly when I was standing on a ledge at the entrance to the harbor in Kona. They are smart. I hand fed a 12 footer live fish before in the entrance cut to the harbor. The speed they can turn on while chasing a live fish is scary. I can't dive...

Have a great trip. And yeah, the first ten minutes are fun. After that....I just want them off my line so I can chase the gamefish I'm after. You can tell immediately when you hook a shark. The fight is very different. It's like being hooked to a stubborn mule.

It doesn't "Suck" per se...they are incredible creatures, ridiculously strong and the jumps defy gravity. It is hard to comprehend a fish that heavy getting that high above the surface. Alpinetrout landed a massive one ON FLY several years ago, he's got a great story to tell. I just don't...

NOOOO LOL! the last thing we want to deal with is a massive pissed of mako anywhere near our boat. They have been known to jump IN boats when hooked. NOT GOOD! Luckily it bit through the 50 lb bottom fish leader rather quickly. Fighting any shark over 50 pounds on light tackle, which is...

This is what it looks like when a hooked 300+ pound mako goes airborne 275 yards behind the boat!

I'm not sure if there are any light tackle charters any more, Del Dykes retired and that genre is very underserved here. If you're interested in big game, you should try the Lepika. Captain Nitta is amazing, a fantastic fishing guide.

I greatly prefer bottom fishing now when I'm in the boat. After one has caught dozens of billfish and countless big ahi, it gets kinda old. I like the hands on approach of light tackle jigging. When I'm not fly fishing, that is....... 🤙
