Taking Strangers Fishing, Yay or Nay?

I honestly don't even like fishing with my buddies all that much. When I'm riding solo every decision is up to me without having to debate or whatever. If I want to hit up a spot, I hit up a spot. If I want to move, I can move - plus there's the added benefit of not having to talk to someone haha

FS Orvis CFO IV - Olive Green 90s w/spare spool, case and pouch

$400: I love it but I worry too much about abusing it - and that’s just not the way I operate lol I need to be able to beat something up and not really care that it got a scratch. I bought this a couple years ago, only used it a couple times. Does not come with fly line! It has some signs...

Redington Field Kits - user feedback ?

I put Cortland Bass line on mine and it’s been great for a couple seasons - I might get the same thing when I replace it.

Redington Field Kits - user feedback ?

Well, bought the 5wt Field Kit, and the tip snapped within 30 minutes of being on the water when I hit a snag. Returning it for a refund and I'm gonna crawl back into my fiberglass hole 👀

I would be in daily nirvana if I lived next to water haha

    The San Juan Worm

That's a pattern I haven't tried yet, but after having fun tying up a bunch of cheap mop flies I'd like to tie up some worms. Following

    Show me your bass

First outing of the year last weekend, I caught my PB largemouth and yellow perch, that perch is the biggest I've personally seen in my area. Both caught on the same clouser I tied this winter! That bass is officially my first fish on a fly I tied myself.

    Getting started with fly tying

I've been using 8/0 uni thread, and when tightening up the deer hair it's easy to break the thread. Very frustrating. Do y'all recommend a specific kind of thread for this, or is this a technique thing that I just need to work around (or both?)

    Getting started with fly tying

I did watch that! I haven't tied this with a hackle yet, first one was just CDC, 2nd + 3rd I added dubbing. I've got about 50 hooks I'm going to dedicate to just the caddis so I've got some room to play with different patterns and colors.

    Getting started with fly tying

Update: tied my first fly! CDC & deer hair caddis - I know it’s not the prettiest. I need to stack the hairs better and work on a cleaner head.

    Classic reels

Not as classic as some of the ones posted in this thread but I love it - 90s Orvis CFO IV in green - one spool for 3WT and one for 5WT

    SFR What vest?

I wear this vest and I have a cheap piscifun fanny pack that holds bulkier stuff. I'm debating on getting a sling pack instead of the vest + fanny pack setup

What's Your Favorite Feature of Your Fishing Kayak?

I used to have a 10 foot Ascend sit on top, but I grew up using a canoe and I missed that. Last spring I got an Old Town 119, and my favorite part of this setup is it's wicked light and easy to set up/break down.

    Getting started with fly tying

Those shops are a bit of a drive for me, so I'll likely stick to online. I don't know of any local fly tying clubs in the area, in fact I've never seen anyone fly fishing in my adventures lol, spinning gear is by far more popular in my area. That would be wicked! I'm at the stage where I don't...

    Getting started with fly tying

I bought a Griffin vice and a little wooden workstation. I have a set of tools I want to buy (Togens premium set). I really just need to get some materials and get started. I want to start by learning to tie the elk hair caddis and the clouser minnow. Any tips on where to get materials?

    Native Brook Trout

There’s a whole group of people out here trying their best to conserve the salters, one day I’m gonna make the couple hour trip to the coast to try my hand.
