    #1....

I bet we all remember our first! Congrats! Probably weren't too many other crazy dudes out there with the rivers so high. My buddy got his trip cancelled. Got a lot of season left to land another too.

    Wood burning……

Back in my days of nihongogako…: ). No chance now. We can meet at a lake in the spring. Have you thought of burning patterns on one of your wood grips?

Geez Steve, I’d trade a bottle of Crown for some of that art. Beautiful!

A half dozen of your muskie flies would fill a patch quickly : )

    Trout Spey taper

Pretty cool. Didn't even know that existed. That would also make the smoothest, strongest spey rod..... If you get a chance, I'd love to hear if you feel your one piece rods cast smoother than sectioned rods or if you can tell much of a difference vs the portability of a sectioned rod with...

    Trout Spey taper

I will be interested on how to build a one piece longer than the planing form.....scarf joint? Its always fun to experiment.

    A Farlows Classic

No idea....my knowledge of how reels work is next to nothing. I'm assuming the reel manufacturers come up with better technology for at least some reason...other than just profits. I use very cheap reels for trout...even on my bamboo rods as I see no reason for spending a bunch of money to...

    Trout Spey taper

I built a spliced three piece rod I enjoy using on the Yak and for src on the beaches. If I remember correctly, I think I have a 250 grain SA integrated head on it. I am by NO means a professional builder and did it mainly out of curiosity. I later built a three piece 4/5 wt doublehander and...

    A Farlows Classic

Just curious....I get hooked up to a steelhead so infrequently, I would hate to lose it because my reel siezed up. I'm assuming all you vintage tackle users are confident in how the reels will work, or do you accept an occasional glich as part of the enjoyment of using classic gear? Or are...

One rod for both tight line nymphing AND streamers

This is where 'Old man Jim" would've cut through all my anxiety about getting the 'wrong' rod and told me to stop f#%king around and just go fishing! I was just at the Orvis store, and they supposedly have the perfect euro rod : ). They did mention the Recon 4 wt as a possibility for what I...

One rod for both tight line nymphing AND streamers

I have a Hydrogen 11' 2wt spey rod I really enjoy using for streamers on the Yak. Would this give me enough 'sensitivity' to effectively use the same size flies for nymphing I would use a 4 wt euro rod for? I'm not sure how easily I could switch from using it as a streamer rod to a nymphing...

One rod for both tight line nymphing AND streamers

I like the idea of using a small skagit head and having the ability to throw a 2 inch sculpin. Euro nymphing upstream and swinging a streamer downstream really appeals to me. With the help of this thread, I'm beginning to understand why Jake has a 4wt euro rod for just what I'm thinking of...

One rod for both tight line nymphing AND streamers

Ahhh....so you feel comfortable casting with the T and T 4 wt. Jake, I'm assuming you do the same? I'm trying to avoid purchasing a 2wt also if I really get into this euro nymphing. Do you feel it would be good for the Fall and upper Deschutes? Thanks

One rod for both tight line nymphing AND streamers

Off hand, do they sell an extra tip also? I see a broken tip section with 11 feet of rod whipping around. For $95.....hard to lose.

    NFR Trucks?

I know zilch about automotive engineering....please forgive.... Could a Siena be lifted to maybe the same as an Outback? Do you think it could withstand twenty miles of washboard road? Tow a 11 ft raft on a flat trailer? I was just floating this idea past my wife if possible : )

One rod for both tight line nymphing AND streamers

Man Jake, you don't mess around when it comes to the quality of your rods : ). I had thought the T and T contact was more of a pure euro stick. We have definitely got to meet out there some time!
