i hooked a few trees back up the 'rivers' :) we didnt use poppers, but it seemed most well placed shots up the rivers, got a response. usually only one or two, and then no more, and had to back out to find the next place. i was thinking i might have done better with a 7' rod in there.

you guys got me going into the 'way back' machine. when i was teen, pre-teen, we hiked into cascade lakes with the real one person navy surplus rafts. we had ping pong like paddles and drug around... who knows what. caught fish, and kept me in the game.

maybe 3 mornings out of 6, we were in the midst of very large numbers of feeding fish, with birds all over the place. it seemed to be a challenge to crack the code, and get them to bite. - my dumb thinking is/was that they dont get that big and many by being too picky with what they are eating...

it was a bit of pandemonium with the bird. while the guys were dealing with said bird, i grabbed another rod, for some casting practice.

In May, I went to the Yucatan (Rio Lagartos) for a week of tarpon fishing. Booked trip with fly water travel, at Tarpon Cay Lodge. the town is about a 3 hr drive northwest of Cancun. The schedule while there, was for a lite breakfast at 4:30.... and then on the boats at 5. Two dudes, and...

what is the target for these beasts ??

i have the starlink mini, and it has worked great for us. use it around oregon, and 2 trips down baja. always decent signal, even while driving.

hmmm, i am out in the boonies, but the new zealand rod company whose name is escaping me, might have one. i have a 8" 10 wt kit still hanging around.

everytime i see your grill, i wince thinking about mine. when i get home, will be cleaning the crap out of my grill !!

the large igloo with solid ice, will do fine, with $ to spare for other camping stuff. you can buy a 12v fridge /freezer to keep ice frozen, but they cost a few hundred.
