    Awesome Dogs of PNW

You know, Jim, from your outdoor life, that a pure partnership afield is just magic.Your posts were plenty of evidence to that. After Grits died I knew that was a fitting end to bird hunting and I’d never own another dog. I feel even more sure of that today!

    Belize

Sounds like a great trip! My three trips to Belize were a blast! The first trip we concentrated on bonefish and I landed 10+, 1 to 3lbs. The second trip we were more focused on permit and bones. I cast to a couple of smaller permit, no takers, an hour later I was tight to a 10-12lb fish. We hit...

Thank you for your service question.

If someone wants to thank me for my military service, I just respond with “Well thank you for saying that, it was my honor To serve..” It was different back in the late 60’s and early 70’s. We veterans took a lot of shit for serving in or during the Vietnam debacle. Our short hair set us out in...

I remember when you posted that report. It truly was sad, I hated to hear it. A hunter learns the land he/she hunts like most folks know their backyards.

An absolutely incredible day shooting mallards and pintails from our “tree blind” built12’ above ground. The day was low 30’s in early January, calm air. The decoy spread, as shown here, pulled birds in like steel pellets to a magnet. The scenery, stunning. An unforgettable day.

SFR Depletion of Groundwater is more serious than we thought!

This issue was a point of discussion many years ago in an ecology class during the oil embargo in the ‘70’s. Global warming (ozone depletion) increasing oil usage, religious wars and Vietnam were points of focus in the developed countries. And still are. My image is human population has passed...

No, I have it right. I’ve lived in sub zero temps a couple times in my life. This hunting trip was tucked in just before winter hit Montana. I’ve hunted ducks on spring creeks and ice fished in sub zero. There are more moderate and sane locations for my old ass. BTW, being stationed at an Air...

    Ever popped trout?

The fish my father was talking about were caught in the late 1930’s in New Mexico. I’m pretty confident they weren’t stockers. Several of the fish I encountered were at least holdovers, fought hard, too.

    Ever popped trout?

When I was a kid, my disabled father would tell me stories of his fishing mountain lakes in New Mexico. Among his stories was his adamant insistence that small popping bugs were killer on trout. I brushed off his words as ridiculous and kept the “bugs” he bought for me in my “I’ll try these when...

    Usless hunting / fishing report

What a great report, loved it! My father was severely disabled WWII veteran so we only hunted doves a few times, no walking required. He told me many stories of his life hunting and fishing the wilds of New Mexico. I’m so glad you and your daughter have this connection, Thanks for sharing it!
