    Don Armeni Boat Ramp

As most know, the dock sections which were installed at Don Armeni last year started deteriorating rather quickly, and were pulled for repairs. I regularly bicycle past there, and not seeing any obvious work on the pontoons, have wondered when they’d ever be done. Today I was out again and...

SFR Aliens, Bigfoot, and other unexplained phenomena!

Twice I have seen lights in the sky moving in ways of which any known aircraft are incapable. Both time I was with others who saw the same thing. Only one of those incidents involved the ganga.

March Madness #5 - Anyone interested?

I just want to know; what is Rocky Mountain University’s mascot? I’m hoping it the Oysters.

    The original knife thread.

I'll bet TSA just loves those.

    World Record Archery Bull Elk

It was a good question to ask, and a respectful discussion, as it should be. I learned from it.

    Tenkara (The Kara?)

I just don’t understand why The Kara gets such a bad rap. Properly employed it’s very effective…. And fun!

    NFR Snow Shred Season 2024 - 2025

Ah springtime! We had everything from ice in the shade and mashed potatoes in the sun to this nice washout where recent logging messed up the drainage. Always great to get out.

    Puget Sound

The ferry last Friday was going about half speed through that fog, and had a crew member posted as lookout on the bow. I tried asking him a question and got a sharp “I CAN’T TALK TO YOU” as a response. I thought their radar would spot any other marine traffic, but maybe smaller boats don’t show...

    Brain fog

The guy I ski with weekly, who is super healthy and almost never gets ill, recently went through a bout of this year's flu. He says he was by far the sickest he's ever been in his life. Somewhere around 19,000 'Muricans have died from the flu so far this season. It's the real deal.

    Puget Sound

'Took a boat ride Friday and caught my first fish (for all of three outings) of the year.

    NFR Snow Shred Season 2024 - 2025

Variable as well on the Palouse to Cascade route today. Mushy in spots, super fast rain crust in others (it's not bad, really!) We went from Crystal Springs to the end of grooming at Easton, about 16 miles RT.

    Question re Dan Lemaich Spiders

I have mostly fond memories of my time at Swallow’s Nest. I did my first saltwater fly fishing with Les and Mike at Lincoln Park catching Rezzies. I was more into climbing back then and didn’t really too much fishing unfortunately. SR, who owned the business doted on the fly fishing staff and...

    NFR Snow Shred Season 2024 - 2025

It was nice up there today, about 31F and snowing, a bit sloppy going over the pass. This is my year for new ski boots; the old classics' velcro cuff was failing and they'd end up flopping around and collecting snow. Can't have that! Waxables today.

    2025 Tuna and Exotics

I'm on what may be one of your earliest '25 FF outings, August 23rd. I volunteer to test that out for you!

    NFR Snow Shred Season 2024 - 2025

Crystal Creek snow park has become my new fave. The access road crosses the upper Yak. Maybe I should bring my fishing gear one of these times?

    Question re Dan Lemaich Spiders

Dan was a cool guy, my favorite of the flyfishing staff. He was a heck of a Rock'n Roll drummer too; supported a family as a musician for some time IIRC. It was a great store, but made some major strategic blunders that put them into a death spiral. Mike is feisty, but has a good heart, he won't...

    Question re Dan Lemaich Spiders

Those are nice looking flies. I knew Dan back in the mid '90s when he, Mike Kinney, and Les were working at The Swallow's Nest in Seattle, and I was a lowly ski tech. Dan lived on Camano Island; I have no idea what has become of him. It looks like Mike is still around; he may be able to help. I...

    Fly Fishing show 2025

I walked around, and realized there really isn't much in the way of new gear I need or want. But those two; the Meadows Lake camp and the liveaboard Petersburg guide service were really enticing!
