    What Are You Eating?

Minimal cooking for yesterday’s dinner as I work grocery retail and I’m too tired for all of that. Snacks were had and some quail were roasted. Cocktail flight was consumed.

BLACK FRIDAY: Have cash on hand to close deals at an extremely physical sales events!! Sell The Bitcoin to have cash to play with!

I’m gonna hit the woods tomorrow and go on a little walkabout. Breathe some fresh air. Then come home, watch a movie and eat snack dinner (cheese and crackers) and call it good. I’m gonna try to not shop anywhere tomorrow. Nice and quiet day. That’s the goal at least.

    Wapato

I remember reading that Lewis and Clark were introduced to and consumed camas while traveling through the PNW. They made note of the excessive flatulence one gets from consuming excessive quantities. I believe the term “windy” was used.

    Puget Sound

I’d skip the Bass Pro jigs. There are a few people that usually set up tables selling jigs at Les Davis and are there pretty much every night.

I’m thinking those are another type of Clitocybe, not sure which variety.

Mushroom and other wild edible foraging

Looks like a nice time in the woods. That first one looks like possible Clitocybe nebularis. Second does indeed look like a shaggy parasol, possible Chlorophyllum olivieri. I remember you saying that your habitat is mixed conifer with some alder and possible cottonwood in the mix. Chanterelles...

Mushroom and other wild edible foraging

I’m stoked. After years of looking I finally found a Black Walnut tree that puts out quantity. Black Walnut is a pretty common native where I grew up in the Midwest, but not so much in our region. I found this tree while scouting for mushrooms. Didn’t have gloves on me so I just went for it. 3...

    Lacto fermentation

Let us know how that works for you Gary. I have the same book and I’ve wondered about the vacuum bag method but have never tried it. Just got a new chamber vacuum sealer so I’ve been inclined to give it a shot.

Mushroom and other wild edible foraging

First picture appears to be Honey Mushrooms. ID on these can be tricky but they are edible. Stems can be a bit tough when older so the caps are preferred. I’ve only tried them a few times and they ranged from great to just OK. Be sure to get a real ID before trying though! 🤣 There are some...

    What Are You Eating?

Yessir! I’m more a fan of the smoother pate varieties but they’re all good to me. Just about out of my Mother Goose stash, time for a trip to Marvel Food and Deli.

    What Are You Eating?

My girlfriend and I spent 3 days hunting porcini (and others) this week. After our 3rd day we were tired and hungry. Not feeling like cooking in our hotel again, we asked a local pizza restaurant to add some to a cheese pizza. This has turned out to be almost an annual tradition during the...
