    NFR What Are You Reading

Since tides are so important to us saltwater anglers I recently picked up this one. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It’s fine to that time ….

Try using a marker and write your line type on the reel foot (where it’ll be hidden up against the rod). If you change lines a little acetone will clean it off for a rewrite. Silver or black is usually all you need.

    Now let’s talk fins 😉

    Outcast OSG Summit float tube

My Trinity is still in good shape. But I've had it for so long I can't remember when I even bought it. It's just one of those cases where ya feel like just get the upgrade before any problems start. If I were to gripe about the Trinity it would be the valves and the seat assembly. Deflating...

    Outcast OSG Summit float tube

I have an Outcast Summit. I also have a Wilderness Lite. Both are good choices if you’re looking to shave some weight off your kit, the Wilderness Lite being the lighter of the 2. I think the Outcast is 7 lbs. I found the Wilderness tube to be lacking in rigidity. I’m sub 200 lbs and still I...

High Country Scramble - Shrooms and ‘Bows

It’s that time of year. Each trip into the high country feels like it might be the last of the season. We were fortunate enough to catch a little sun after climbing up through the clouds. Emphasis on “little”, I think the sun peeked over the ridge for about half an hour before leaving us in the...

    NFR Eclipse viewing

Out on Orcas Island for a few days and half expected to wake up to cloud cover for the eclipse. We got lucky with some morning sun and scrambled down to the beach with coffee in hand and a colander in tow. Success! Science!

    NFR Baseball 2023

O’s need one more game to take the division. Helluva year! It’s been fun watching these guys. I don’t believe they’ve been swept in a series the entire season and they just weathered a brutal stint on the road really testing the pitching crew. I’ll savor it, looking down on the Yanks is the...

    NFR Baseball 2023

It’s been a fun season watching my beloved O’s. We don’t get to see them on top of the Yanks and Sox often.

    Awesome Dogs of PNW

Pucci started off afraid of the water. Now we can’t get her away from it. Here she is helping me sniff out some surf perch.

    What's Catching You Fish?

I’m happily onboard the jig wagon now. Back-to-back trips and these little guys have done well for me, most recently on a high country adventure. Black and tan colors have been working. Olive is on tap next, then we’ll look at bead colors. So much potential for targeting other species, using...

    Cool Fish Pictures

These always stand out in my mind, a moment frozen in time. Walking along the creek and notice these 2 locked in love’s embrace. I watched for a few moments, because you know, I like to watch, then tied on a close imitation. Success! Golllllld!

BBQ Salmon... foil or direct on the grill?

Good question. Tradition? Availability? Definitely try out as many different woods as you can. Certain meats go better with certain woods. The gist of it all is still the same.

BBQ Salmon... foil or direct on the grill?

There are some interesting and cringe-worthy responses here. No wrong answers of course, just some individuals that need guidance. 😉 Being an east coaster that moved west decades ago and knew nothing of salmon or how to cook it, I feel I’ve run the gamut from heinous atrocities to finally...

    Hallpass Lake

Ahoy! It’s a Sportspal S10. Fun little boat, fits in the bed of my truck and light enough to handle solo.

“Hey, are you seeing all these little baby fish? Why are you just sitting there?”

    Hallpass Lake

Sometimes you’re given a narrow window and have to make the most of it. I know we all do it, strive to sneak in a little fishing time on vacations and getaways. Doesn’t matter what or where, or what kind of fish. If there’s water around the scheming starts. I’ve always liked this place. It’s...

    Whats in your smoker?

Smoked out the neighborhood making some wings and ribs. Added some taters for the last :45 min or so. It’s good to be able to grill and smoke without the rain!

    Hiking in?

What kind of trail are you hiking in on? Does it have overhanging branches, fallen trees to scoot under, stream crossings, thick underbrush? If so, it will be a nightmare humping in a fully inflated tube. Spare yourself the trouble and possible damage to your gear and inflate your tube at your...

Long time listener, first time caller. Tubin' central WA

Greetings all, I used to hang out over on the other forum, but have finally made the migration over here. Woo hoo! It's March, and that means time to load up the backpacks and float tubes and head out to central WA for some lake action. This marks our 8th straight year of plying these...
