    Any use the Garmin InReach?

I started carrying the in reach in the truck. If I'm paying for it, figured I might as well use it all the time. Never know when you're going to get into some sticky situation on the road - maybe a wreck and your phone breaks? I don't know, but figured it's good to carry just in case it's needed.

LAST MINUTE NORTH SOUND: Lagers & Letters with TU (skagit CnR season, etc)

I like the idea of drinking beer and writing letters to the government. Good combo.

    SFR Corner crossing update

Also, friendly reminder to support groups like Backcountry Hunters & Anglers if you can. They're out there fighting the good fight on behalf of all of us who enjoy spending time on public land. Which I think is pretty much everyone on this forum. @Millsfly if you're still with them - drop a...

    SFR Corner crossing update

Really really good thing - unless you're a really rich person who bought property that corner blocks public access and you've been using that public property as your own and restricting public access via corner crossing....but I think those are the rare exceptions. So yeah, good thing.

Not just local fly shops are closing (not that Orvis is anything but a clothing store now)

Commercial construction saw (at peak) 3.5% - 5% increase due to tariffs. Maybe residential is different, but I'd be surprised if it were that much different.

    SFR Corner crossing update

You know they were waiting to see if the public land fire sale made it thru the latest bill. Not surprised at all that now that's passed (for now) this is back on the docket. Ultimately, I don't think it will end how they want - which would be a huge win. There's two previous SCOTUS cases...

    Floating the Yakima

Yep, done it a bunch. Pros: it's fun. Cons: none, unless you don't like fun. Tips: bring a soft cooler and strap/rig it to your tube. Ditto a small dry bag for keys/phone/wallet/etc. Bring a paddle, or something you can use w/ a paddle. Frisbees work. Stay on the inside edge of the...

    AI generated pictures

I asked GPT to respond to the article... Gioia’s Claim Counterpoint 1. AI is being "force-fed" to users via apps like Outlook and Excel, often without consent. Integration ≠ coercion. Embedding AI into tools users already use lowers friction and increases accessibility. Just as spell check...
