The walleye in Ontario last spring seemed to like any smaller streamers or leech patterns slowly retrieved or drifted at the end of a sink 9. This was in about 25-30 feet of water. It was a fun experiment but I'll probably stick to gear next time.

Brisket was ahead of schedule this morning, coming off the smoker at around 9:00. The extra piece at the end of the point turned out to be a bit lean and dried out some, but was still edible.

Preparing a ~16lb prime brisket to entertain with over the next couple of days: Does anybody here know if this hunk of meat at the end of the point will be any good? Normally I would trim any smaller/outlying pieces like this but tonight I left it on. I've no idea if it will burn to a crisp...

Thinking I'd like to have something there with a bit more contrast for the fish to key in on. The red spot has been a good budget option since I've been scrapping and recycling so many of these bugs.

To me, the nice thing about the float tube is that you've got several redundant sources of floatation. Most boats will have at least two separate bladder plus your pfd. On the river you might have a pfd. Cold water temps are the real danger in my opinion.

Thanks for clarifying. I sure wish WDFW would make these easier to read. Especially with the app, there is no reason they can't add a bright red banner stating that the water is currently closed.

Very similar to the Fish Cat Scout, this is the Stealth Pro that I picked up from Greg Smith on the old site. It's not really packable but has a lot of good things going for it in terms of mobility on the water, easy fin kicking, mounts for all kinds of gear, and space for the pup on nice days...

Are you typically jigging these flies or do you cast and retrieve, or both?

I've enjoyed and used the heck out of my old 18" WSM and would recommend it, but it is definitely more of a hands on tool and more of an activity in itself. Once you get it dialed in, you can run for 12+ hours with minimal babysitting. Sometimes the most difficult part is not peeking.

Is it a dog friendly office?
