It’s a beautiful river. My recent experience is that I have to slow down a lot to be effective, and understand that it isn’t going to be a numbers game very often. It can be a very gratifying place to find success.

I wonder how much they travel. Carp hooked multiple times might be like permit hooked multiple times — could be pretty rare. The big carp in Europe get caught repeatedly, and named, but they also get chummed, etc. and they live in ponds, not The Big River. Maybe you got a new pod of fish?

Sorry on the focus! Australian possum on the tails, medium gold wire rib over either possum or other dubbing. Two flys have a pheasant collar, two have an oversized griz. Pheasant philoplume head Ala Gartside original Sparrow. Things are certainly fuzzy around here, but maybe this shows better…

Bought a box of these nasty Daddies last year and they keep saving me. The semi-local hex hatch is always just slightly more complicated than I remember — and the spinner fall happens even on a cool night. Every night? The spinners also don’t wiggle around like the cripples…

They’ve got some very nice cheezebugers in Lundbreck. 4th of July might be early for stones; not sure. There’s a lot of elevation around there.

Bobber beetle and a window film midge. Off next week to a desert basin with a lot of clear water and some big fish, from the pictures I’ve seen. And some soaking. 10.5hrs from puddletown seems to be sort of the ring of fire for trout, but this is a new compass point for me. Pretty excited!
