Sunday report: 1 wild fish for me, and 1 nice clipped fish for my buddy Pat, whom many of you should know. Not another fish seen on the beach.

Switch rod over head casting, because at 75 both elbows, left shoulder, and now both thumbs.

@Bagman what are you asking? my zaxis 6110 is my go-to, or was until recently. I have an orvis H2 115-4 that takes the same line, but is much lighter than the z. Are you looking for something specific?

    Official Beach Line Thread

Are we such a minority that we will always struggle with line selection and availability? I just spent a couple hundred dollars on lines to find the new ONE for spey casting the beach, settling on the SA Spey Lite Integrated INTERMEDIATE, only to find that they discontinued it this year. Many...

Decided to take out the single hander today for the first time in 10 years...a little bit rusty for sure. After getting skunked for the first hour, switched to a type 3 tip and immediately started catching. Lost one sizable fish after it came unbuttoned, lost another maybe 20 minutes later...

Pulled the trigger on a recteq rt-700 and will let you know my thoughts after a few trial runs. Heard from a few friends with friends that have recteq’s and can’t find a bad thing said about them.

I had to chase a squirrel on this one. Fun fact: “Komodo dragons are actually very clean animals,” Rockfish spines...those are the ones that get me good. I also don't recommend dropping a dogfish on your foot. Bonus tip I found out after this pic...Ice is apparently the worst thing to do...

what are those? Like from line burns? Get you some waterproof tape. Side benefit you feel like a real athlete taping up before your session.

    Kayak Fly Fishing

https://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/ is your friend. Having had a Native Slayer Propel (VERY similar to the OT Salty), and now a Hobie Outback, I will say that the Hobie wins. Insta reverse is neat and all, but the ability to cruise skinny water, and not catch weeds on a prop is worth the...

@Aleforme when you say "cold smoke" do you mean your standard salmon candy stuff? I generally start my hot smoke salmon at about 140 for an hour, then start gradually raising temp to a finish at 200 to minimize the white goop (albumin).

Hmmm, maybe there just isn't a one size fits all option. Those recteq's look promising, but those pellet grills all have min temp setting of 180. Anybody out there smoking fish on a pellet grill? Recteq has a smokebox sold separately for their larger models, but maybe I'm just chasing a...

My thought exactly, despite owners stating the contrary. Even the highest end Traeger states max temp 500 degrees. You have any examples?

    Particularly Memorable Takes

About 10 years ago on the Bogey, my father is fishing a run, gets the eat, and then proceeds to get spooled 200 yards or so upstream in a matter of seconds. He still talks about it. I still laugh about it. Similarly, I was fishing the beach with a 6wt before dawn one morning, sweeping the fly...

I’ve got a Genesis in Natural gas and will throw in a vote for that one as a general purpose grill. I guess the real question is, since I’ve been drooling over those new Traeger’s, can those things actually serve as a general purpose grill for burgers etc.? I know from experience that the...

    Grill Recommendations

In the market for a new do-all grill for the back patio. Propane, charcoal, pellet, whatever. I'm open any and all suggestions. If you could have one grill to do it all what would it be? I've got room for one, to ideally handle everything from low & slow to general grilling. Anyone have any...
