If only we didn’t do permanent damage to our ecosystem already, rainbows would still just be west coast and brookies in the east. Massachusetts just keeps stocking and stocking those non natives for the power bait folks, so the future is kind of bleak for the native brookies.

I haven’t needed to use the drag on any of my reels yet, makes me think it’s more of a saltwater thing than anything. Definitely in the 5wt and under realm, it’s a line holder.

I think I’ll try that with my pond prowler, it’s an 8’ long plastic barge lol. One day I plan on getting a 12-14’ jon boat to replace it.

I’m in a canoe I can’t face perpendicular to wherever my canoe is pointing - which is why I tend to anchor at the stern, so the wind comes from behind me and helps my cast. The opposite tends to be me fighting the wind and cursing lol

I'm curious why I always see advice to anchor at the bow so you're into the wind, but wouldn't that hurt your casting distance? I like to anchor off the stern so that I'm facing away from the wind and I'm not fighting it to cast. I'm a novice though, so I appreciate any advice with that.

First trout on the fly last year, I would much rather pull these pretty little guys out with my 3 weight than the stocked rainbows and browns that do not belong in New England.

Last year fishing for brook trout I caught a baby landlocked Atlantic Salmon. My one and only contribution to this subforum (until I go back there in the fall and catch a big one!)

I have the bass field kit (I know this is two years old). I love it, it casts wonderfully and it looks killer.
