    Bamboo Fling June 9th - what'cha bringing?

Mike, I'd like to hear more about your "Dual Para" tapers, and definitely cast your Leonard 50D 8' 5 wt to compare it to mine. I've read that the 50D's were normally a 5 wt with a few exceptions falling into the 4 wt range so I'm curious to learn more. Ron

    Bamboo Fling June 9th - what'cha bringing?

Sunday June 9th, Annual Bamboo "Fling" gathering for our Puget Sound area...What'cha going to bring? My likely rods: 1. Leonard 50D. This is an 8' Leonard that is a four weight medium action rod. A light 8' rod that is my ideal for casting dries on smaller streams. 2. Phillipson glass - a...

    Diamond Lake

I once heard somebody say that much of Central Oregon could have been made a National Park. Your beautiful photos confirm that. What size were the fish at Diamond? They're reputed to be rather hefty.

What's your favorite dry or emerger Callibaetis pattern?

Just to make sure I am reading this right...the Sparkle Dun is the fly in the style of what I'd call a comparadun? Just tail, body and deer hair wings? I appreciate the coaching! Ron

    Bamboo ?

I’d encourage you to try a couple more lines if you can, some bamboo rods can be picky about line weights and tapers as well. Although that rod was likely designed for close range casting that limited distance could also indicate that your initial try was either over, or under, lined. Could...

    Reduced - 8' Steffen 3/4 wt Glass, Rare/Desirable 7-1/2' 5wt Phillipson Glass

Yes, its a nice casting rod. But that Phillipson is really close. I'd keep both but I can't part with my 8' 4 and 5 weight bamboo rods.

What's your favorite dry or emerger Callibaetis pattern?

One of my favorite hatches is the callibaetis on some of the PNW lakes I fish. I love it when the trout are rising to the hatching flies. I usually fish a parachute Adams size 14 or 16 but always wonder if there are even more effective flies I should tie and fish. What flies do you prefer?

    Sharpes in the desert

Great outing Dave. Remind me to tell you my story about the aborted “picnic” lunch my snake-phobic wife and I had there many years ago.
