Some agate finds from the river last week. Almost didn't pick up the gnarly one but the color caught my eye. Not sure the smaller one qualifies as a true agate but thinking this will polish really well.

I'd say jack steelhead - although it does look a lot like a small coho. There's the faintest blush of pink on the operculum. Unless you guys up North have some seriously late run coho.

That would be the case here. Very few but potential for quality fish.

The bank at my property is upstream and not currently accessible due to recent erosion. I can access this section from my downstream neighbor's (great people). Its a steep, rope required, bushwhack, but a good workout for an oldish fat guy.

Not sure about specific patterns but read that ballyhoo are a standard offshore bait. Would seem good starting point to imitate.

Thanks. It's always a challenge for me to tie the same stuff consistently, so yeah, the patterns tend to meld somewhat. This "mega-comet" is one of the few I've tied consistently over the years. But not entirely unlike this stuff, which might be better suited to running under a float...

Not this time. Water was super clear so I downsized using one of my pocket water coho shrimpy nymphs.

Just had a flashback to the chow hall at Keesler AFB. I get it. I was not disappointed with my intro to Southern food. Grew to really like collards greens. Always looked forward to catfish and hush puppies on Fridays.
