Usually, a barracuda is whipped by the time it is ready to be landed. And therefore, they are usually fairly easy to handle. I think you want to make sure the fish is tired. Then, after you remove the hook(s), hold the fish by the tail and revive it well.

You should also consider rigging a 10wt for barracuda. In my opinion, barracuda are the most underrated fly rod fish.

As Don Meredith used to sing ... "Turn out the lights, the party's over ..." Clouds make it so tough on a bonefish flat.

One thing to remember, in saltwater fishing like in Ascension Bay, the reel is way more important than the rod. Take the 7wt, should be perfect for the bonefish - and, make sure you have a very good matching reel, with an excellent drag. Same advice for the heavier rod for the heavier fish.
