    New black ugly stick!

Stupid oar locks  I sort of managed a modified J stroke to keep the pram going in a straight line. Not. What a mess but I still C&R - 4. WoOt!

    New black ugly stick!

That's what a nice homeowner on Star Lake thought when Steve asked to trim some culms. I could barely see Steve buried in bamboo as he motored his pram back to the ramp.:ROFLMAO:

    New black ugly stick!

Geez, don't give Steve your address. I could see him repelling out of a helicopter in the middle of the night with pruners in hand. You would wake up with only a few bamboo nubs sticking up.

    New black ugly stick!

So, do I get to see you fishing it next week with the Saint George Junior? That grip will look most excellent stained in black. You just keep pushing bamboo rod building boundaries. Pretty damn awesome Steve

    Classic reels

Found a nice spot yesterday with Bambooflyguy. Fished about 9 hours with the Dingley. Think I found my new favorite reel. C&R 30 rainbows and 1 brown. Sort of forced one rainbow to make a run just to hear the old Dingley sing a couple bars of "YaHoo". Best part of the entire day however, was we...

    Classic reels

Been awhile since I last posted on this thread. Thanks to Steve, and this classic reel discussion for opening my brain to other fly reel possibilities. I recently purchased a WALKER BAMPTON/DINGLEY MADE 3" PATTERN 1 TROUT FLY REEL from eBay. Tuesday this reel is going fishing despite all of the...

    Annual Columbia gorge trip

Cool report Stacy. Glad you got into those beasts. Had to laugh at the duck blind chair, I was going with trash. Carp fishing sounds very interesting and challenging.

The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

I saw his brother today on 288th and Pac Hwy. He was trying to beat the crap out of telephone pole. Wonder what he will think when he comes off that crap? At least your nice stoner was interested in a fish report. Still some hope for him.

    Happy new owner

Steve told me to not do it because he would never appreciate it. Well, so my friend retired, and I presented him with his first bamboo rod to celebrate his retirement. I restored an old 3 piece 8ft POS into a 6ft rod including a nice reel seat that I spun on my wood lathe. and a nice set of Ray...

The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

It's Amazing when that big mouth breaks the surface and opens. Seems like the world goes into slow motion. On 6x tippet just makes it more fun. Sweet.

    Found Flippers

Happy ending. Steve and I fished the same lake today and we ran into the young man who left his flippers on the boat ramp. Flippers went home to the rightful owner.

The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

Here is a better picture of the Bamboo rod I was fishing. I also used it at Corbett lake last summer and must say it really surprised me how much fun this ugly stick was to fish. It is my primary indicator rod and only 6ft 6inches long. Yeah it's goofy looking but I have released lots of fatties...

The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

Yesterday Steve and I fished a local lake during the monsoon. Just before the wind and rain kicked into full ugly Steve's Franken-kara was invited by a rainbow to take a swim-about. The fish kept swimming away with the rod so Steve suggested all the rod needs is a rooster tail and it might look...
