Yeah it's a pretty relaxed industry mostly. I don't really have any good shop local to me, so I've mainly just learned to be self sufficient in the purchasing and wrenching of my bikes.

YT, Polygon, Commencal, Canyon, etc (more popping up faster than I can keep track of) direct to consumer brands are definitely worth looking at. The Ripmo AF at these prices are tough to beat though. Ripley AF is probably also worth considering though depending on how much travel you want.

The 40+ head is 6' longer than and OBS. That shouldn't take you 2 more casts to load up lol

Mountain passes and high speeds are mpg killer in anything. The worst mileage we ever get is our trips to MT over passes and doing 80+. 22 mpg in a full size truck in those conditions is fantastic. Our Outback won't even do that.

Why not look for a lighter 6wt switch rod? I find a modern 9' 6wt can handle any coho you might encounter on the beach, so a switch 6wt should have no issues being under-gunned. Rod and line are both lighter that way.
