Gave Area 13 a quick humpcheck after getting the kids in bed this evening, in case any early Nisqually fish were humping by. No fish seen or hooked.

With the amount of casting I do on a typical saltwater outing, I sure wouldn’t want to be doing it with a 9’6 10 wt.

Was planning to flyfish the 2nd day of the MA9 opener tomorrow. Until I got an invite to troll around Area 7 with a fwb (friend with boat). That dirt ain’t gonna bag itself.

I work on Commencement Bay and keep an eye out for them. Haven’t seen any jumpers yet, but I remember last pink year seeing a few jumpers start jumping in mid-July.

I was shadding the river two days ago and hooked a nice rainbow on my shad dart. It was in a really deep hole and I was 100% sure I was shadded up until I got the fish close. Not a bad bycatch, though. No shad encountered.

I just get too amped and twitchy when I get a topwater follow and end up playing keep-away. For the fish, it’s probably the equivalent of trying to tackle Barry Sanders.
