I've been surprised at the number of people that refuse to get one. It's 2025 - if you still think that refusing the new ID will somehow protect you from "surveillance", you haven't been paying attention to everything from cars to phones to credit cards. That ship sailed.

The new iPhones have all of the capabilities of a dedicated personal tracker/locater/messenger/gps device. Topographic maps work with no cell signal, as does location, and texting.
