Reflecting after other posts on fishing and hunting partners

I have fish with a few, very few of you'll here on this forum and from WFF. Good guys all. I like to fish alone, except from a boat, then I like a buddy. As for hunting, it is really hard to find someone that I can trust with firearms. When my son was in high school I would take him and a couple...

    Yellowjacket equinox

I used to work in the woods cutting timber, man I hated yellow jackets. They nest in the ground and it all looks the same until you stepped into a hollow spot and the bastards came out to kill ya. Trap'em all, kill'em all

Hello guys and gals I have a new litter of Golden Retriever puppies available for those folks that love the water, hiking, playing ball, or hunting birds, and all around good family fun. I have nine in the litter, 7 males, two females. One of the females is spoken for already. These nuggets were...

    Adventure Question....

I have lived and worked in the woods of the PWN most of my adult life. Lived in a tee pee on the Crooked river above the reservoir outside Prineville, Or. from January to April of 1978. No electricity, no running water, temperature below freezing for 60 days, many days below 0 degrees. It was an...

    Odd question

Fishing RF when it is in the onion soup stage really messes up fly line and rods. I learned the hard way by letting that s--t dry before trying to wash it off. Wash the rod and line while fresh. much easier.

Heart break hotel (stories of despair)

Ah, the one that got away. Too many to count. I was fishing a small hike in lake just outside Sisters, OR. I was still kinda new to fly fishing and had not learned the lesson I'm about to share. I was at the head of the lake where the springs fed into the lake. I was able to wade out 30 or 40...

The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat

I have been fishing for many, many years. I have learned a thing or two about fighting the fish after the hook up. I have landed steelhead on my 3wt rod, and 20" plus cutts. In the days when I was much younger I lost more big trout than landed. There is so much to learn about fighting the fish...

    Hooked up!

Hi tightline4you Well my friend that happened many years before there were regs on barbless lures/flies on the Kettle river. Thanks for your comment and follow those rules even if they don't make sense.

    Safety

When I killed my first deer. After gutting it, I headed for the truck, except the truck wasn't where I left it. I walked back to my deer and waited. Another hunter came along, said nice buck and walked on. That hunter walked to where my dad was waiting at the truck for me, told him where I was...

    Hooked up!

I have hooked myself a few times with a fly, but I have always had a barb smashed down so no big deal. I hooked the wife in the ear while bone fishing in Hawaii. To say she was pissed would be an understatement. The hook didn't get embedded in her ear, but it bled pretty good. While fishing the...

    Why Do You Troll?

When I fished above Chief Joe dam, trolling a olive woolly bugger was the way to go. Close to shore along the drop off from the boat ramp up lake and back. Great time. Taking the grand kid out in the canoe at black lake with a rust bugger. It would take a week to get the smile off his. Love...

    Rain

I went fishing on Tuesday. 03/11/25. The Umpqua river was clean and clear, caught three small RBs. It started raining on Wednesday and it is still raining and now the river is big and brown, and is gonna stay that way for many days to come.
