    Sunk drift boat in Oregon

In high water there will be some lines but lower flows no. The right line is getting more and more filled in. It’s usually a boat drag now. Last time I went down we had to drag kayaks, just no water. Still better than left.

    Sunk drift boat in Oregon

We were on the Bear Ck section of the SolDuc last year. In one place the obvious main flow goes left with an inconspicuous trickle goes right. Well the trickle is the way to go otherwise it’s a nasty drop with no runnable line. Someone didn’t know that apparently. We saw the boat sometime later...

Dry suits come in lots of models. For the best and really only practical use, the models made for kayaking/rafting, not scuba diving make sense. A person has complete range of motion. Some have neoprene Velcro cuffs and neck gaskets that are very comfortable but not completely waterproof. Maybe...

Here’s a dry suit story. We were kayaking the SolDuc down from Salmon Cascades with a group of about 6. In November, raining and in the upper 30’s - lower 40s. My friend Joyce is a very good boater but now has MS and is unsure of her roll but otherwise is very capable. We were in a calm slow...

    mini split heating/cooling systems

Agree with Mr Cool. I’ve installed 2 one in my garage and one in my sons house we’ve remodeled in Forks. They are amazing and about 1/3 the cost of installed units. I’ve done all the wiring myself and honestly that’s the only challenge with these units. The Forks house is a 1940s that had been...

    Slip Bobber Leader

I have a bit more of a scientific approach all proportioned to the exact depth of the water. Something thicker down a ways til it’s kinda deep at least in the ball park, then a swivel followed by thinner line down a bit more to a knot with dropper fly. Finally thin line to the bottom fly. Hook...

Queets open to Steelhead fishing until end of March 2025?

Back in the day: Queets Basin, over the Jeffers Glacier then all the way out. Skyline, Queets, Valhalla’s. Skyline, Queets, Hoh. You could roam all over that country. Wherever you might want to go the elk have been going for millennia The Queets is the heart of what’s left of true wilderness...

    Ask the Camp Chef

Emily (leader of the raft trip mentioned) will blow you away with DO cooking. She led trips professionally for 10 years and turned that experience into a wildly successful bakery. Honestly just for the DO cooking alone this trip would be worthwhile. Even though she is my daughter I’m not the...

    Oar Upgrade for Clearwater

I really like the Outcast oars. I come from a significant whitewater background and do appreciate solid gear. However like was said before, in the Clearwater, I don’t believe that the oars are the weak link, rather the patch that holds the oarlock. The lack of having a solid frame also limits...

Why/when would you use UV cure vs zap-a-gap or superglue?

Update, Solarez’s medium viscosity is 1500 cps and their thick is 10,000. Amazons “thin viscosity” is ~1500-2000 cps. Anybody find anything that compares to Ultra Thin Bone Dry at 75 cps please post!
