Here’s a video I recall one of the competition guys making about them. Reducing fly damage seems to be a consideration, not just releasing fish faster. I lost my last mop fly to hemostat usage last weekend, so I’m going to give one a try. I ordered the Loon one.

A number of competitive anglers use the Ketchum Release tool or similar. I think that’s pretty solid evidence that they work and save time. I’ve never used one though. I carry enough crap with me already.

That’s a good idea. I didn’t even think of that. Can it handle the heat of a pizza oven? Like 600-700 degrees?

The other idea I had was to buy a bunch of stainless steel peels and cook ON the peels. I would leave the peel in the oven until the base cooks enough to separate and then remove the peel. Not sure if this is a moronic idea or not.
