    Slow Day on Alone Lake

I’ve never heard of any trouble there. A lot of folks dog walk or just swing by for a break which helps. The lot is wide open so easy to see any malfeasance. I’m more worried the driving skills of folks as one dipshit bent the the lhs lights on my trailer when they backed out. My frustration...

    Slow Day on Alone Lake

I fished it last week. Bloodworms just off the bottom got me hits and my buddy fish. A black/ Blue balanced leach at 10’ worked well for him and got me interest but I only had the one fish to the net. The crapper is closed due to vandalism and a honey bucket is now infront. Dave

    Yearly check ups... please

An added bonus is a free bailer…the purge with a load of water and laxatives the day before is fun… Dave

    Yearly check ups... please

I’d note the colonoscopy is better than the poop testing (while still very good) as it finds things before they manifest and blood derived from them is found in your poop, occult fecal blood being the analyte tested for but doing something or anything over nothing can literally be a life...

    Yearly check ups... please

I took Shawn’s advice and had front and back done at the same time last year. It was no problem and I ticked off trying fentanyl too (not on my bucket list 😀) under medically operated conditions. It was really easy, quick at a 45 min procedure and totally painless. I took the afternoon off and...

    Butterflies in January?

There are two cherry trees in blossom on 3rd Ave NW by 70th in Seattle, bonkers but lovely pink blooms. Had my kid nab a pick. Dave

    Firehole Outdoors Closing

To close this thread out, I got my order today 😀 very happy with it re dries and chironomids to now stock up on. One surprise is they now are in packets vs boxes but not a biggie. Worked out at 37 cents a hook after tax and shipping, not fussed as good hooks are key and imo one of the more...

    What Are You Eating?

I’ve used these for yrs as the spices are kept in an air tight pouch and any spices sources in Pakistan are way better then the ones stored in my cupboard for yrs. My only beef is that with a couple of the biryani mixes I’ve tried, the cayenne or red chilli is on 11, I love a good spice but...

    Amazing flies

It’s is an Italian tyer I think and yes, I will be scouring the web tomorrow. I’ve seen an ant pattern from Barry Ord Clarke, I think, where he ties deer hair forward and then crinkles it to make cool legs but this is just alchemy Dave

    Amazing flies

This was posted on a BC site. Haven’t heard of a lot of these tyers but OMG, a lot beautiful ties. Really exquisite, some of the caddis patterns are insane. Dave https://www.weareflyfishing.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/reunie-1.pdf

    Watch those scams

When I get an unexpected or dodgy email re an outstanding debt or financial 'issue', the first thing I do is hit 'Reply' and very carefully look at the senders email address, you can typically see it is off, websites can be very carefully copied. I also limit the # of cards I have (2) and use...

    Got any bird pics?

When I worked on prawn trawlers in Mallaig, they were affectionately known as shite hawks. Everytime we hauled gear and dumped it into the sorting pond, hundreds would literally lose their shit. Being head to toe in grundens with your hood up was a must. Covered head to toe. Skipper would hose...

    Wierd fish

I just saw this link and thought some folks might be interested. I spent yrs tide pooling in the sound with my kids and we never saw one of these. Really bizarre looking fish, makes sculpin seem quite svelte… Dave https://www.discoverwildlife.com/animal-facts/marine-animals/rockhead-poacher

    What Are You Eating?

Tried herb crusted lamb as a Saturday night treat using a Gordon Ramsay recipe, very good, maybe need a slight hotter oven re a litttle more browning but was carefully following the recipe as first time I’d tried it. Only bummer was I’m off alcohol for a while post the holidays. My wife said...
