Question for Driftboat Lake Fishing concerning anchor techniques

It works well, but it does take me two hands to use it because of it’s placement on the bench, but a couple of these were on the boat when I got it and so it was easily available.

    What's Catching You Fish?

Went looking for bass yesterday, found several dozen bluegills instead. Caught a couple on top with dragonfly pattern, most were on a damsel nymph dropper. They really believe in inhaling the fly, and chewed it up, though it was still catching fish. I did watch one bass hit my dragonfly but he...

Question for Driftboat Lake Fishing concerning anchor techniques

I have a Koffler whitewater pram, basically a small drift boat. I have an anchor at the front and back. I did add another rope cleat so I could drop my front anchor without stepping over the front bench seat. Makes life somewhat easier. I have a 14 pound anchor in back and ten pounds in front...

    Coffee talk

I've been making coffee in a Chemex for the past couple years and decided to try something different. I bought a Clever Dripper and have been using that for a little over a week now. I follow James Hoffman's recipe for the Clever Dripper, easy to find on YouTube. Instead of straight...

    Newman Lake Spokane

So I’m playing tennis in a couple weeks in Spokane and the team has rented a house for a couple nights on Newman Lake, with backyard access to the lake. WDFW makes it sound like a warm water fishery mostly. Trying to decide if it would be worthwhile to take some gear up, or is your water still...

    Intermediate lines

I used a old Rio intermediate line off and on yesterday that was terribly coiled coming off the reel, but it reacted wonderfully to stretching and never tangled, unlike my Rio type 6 line. When I put back on the reel to move places, I had to stretch it again as I took it off the reel. Was good...

Can I just add a new coat of epoxy to old thread wraps?

If you were to do the re-cover of epoxy, you should scuff up the epoxy with some fine sand paper first I would think. And don't forget that you will be making your threadwraps thicker by adding more epoxy. But you should go for it and show us before and after pics.

FOUND - Fly rods and FOUND the owner!

Well done Pat! I left a rod in one of the hike in lakes a couple years ago. I think it is in about 12 feet of water. Can you find that one for me, please?

Anyone use something like this foam elk hair caddis?

EHC's are my go-to on rivers, though I really don't fish moving water much. I like that at the end of the drift, you let them drag under and swing and I seem to catch as many or more fish that way.

The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

It was one of three rods I had with me, I didn’t use it a ton. It is 9 ft long and heavy to hold and cast, very top heavy. I have a Japanese made medalist-type reel on it.

I was using it as the point fly in a washing line set up. So yep, it was floating/surface film.

I got one today on a booby. On a bamboo rod at that!

How do you rig 2 flies?

I fished today, caught bunches of fish, missed three times that many because I like to fish two rods. I will put the leech on bottom if I’m fishing any chironomid except a bloodworm, because bloodworms should be on the bottom. I feel like the bottom fly usually catches 90% of the fish because...

Balanced vs Standard Leech Under Indicators

I fish balanced leeches and some unbalanced leeches, but when I have seen leeches swimming in the water it seems that they are usually oriented upwards at about a 45 degree angle, so the jig head leeches make sense to me.

Are you sure that is bamboo? Most bamboo I see is much straighter. That rod there needs a little blue pill 1 hour before fishing.

    Bread Thread

Speaking from experience, the bread always tastes good, despite the over or under proofing. Unless you leave the salt out accidently, then it will taste bad. And it will over proof quicker. My house is around 70 degrees, but I have been putting the dough for bulk fermentation in the oven with...
