WTB or Trade For Chest Freezer

I have one on North Whidbey I'd let go for a case of good beer and some beach tips. The caveats being: I don't remember how old it is and I converted it to a kegerator at one point so it has a wooden collar under the lid where I had taps. It worked when I moved up here last year but its been...

    Skagit River Speyapalooza 2025

Looking forward to this tomorrow. I'm in Josh's 1:30 class. Maybe I'll run into someone

    Puget Sound

Caught this bad boy on a beach yesterday near my house. Not uncommon where I got it, but a first for me. My wife is tired of hearing about it already I think. Definitely a bucket list fish.

Post your first fish of 2025 here

Finally dusted my 2025 funk off with this little guy on my local 8-1 beach. Feels good to finally get something in the net again.

Why in the world does WA still have paper-only fishing licenses?

Does anyone know if theres a procedure for when you've bought your license and have the temp printout but don't have your catch record sheet yet? I've never had anyone ask for mine but I don't really like fines and I'd like to get back to the river before its time to just hit the beach here on...

Skagit Wild Steelhead Fishery Monitoring - Under Threat of Budget Cuts

I had a WDFW employee hit me up on the Sauk on Saturday. I can answer 1 and 4 (anecdotally anyway) The WDFW employee asked: What time did I start fishing, How was I fishing (bank, boat) I was only bank fishing that day. Did I have a guide, What was my target species, Had I retained any fish or...

    SFR Cigars 101

I really want to like cigars but this is always the problem I have. I swore them off again last time I was hunting in NE Oregon and my mouth tasted like I'd saved all the ash from the cigar and just chewed on it the morning after. Is there a solution or is it "Just suck it up and enjoy your...

Seeking Real Opinions on Elk Rifles

I'll agree with the chorus that I'd probably go at least with a 270 win over 6.5 creed with elk. I think 6.5 at 300 yards will probably be fine but the extra oomph doesn't come at a huge recoil cost having both (well I sold my 6.5 but I do shoot a 6.5x55 which is just the OG 6.5 creed). As far...

    NFR Earthquake off Orcas 3/3/25

Woke us and the dogs up on North Whidbey, felt like one of the EA-18Gs was going overhead but it was fairly quiet and kept going and going and going. First earthquake for me, was cool but don't want a bigger one thanks.

    Seattle Orvis Store Closing

I'm sure location has a lot to do with it, but I think the observation about Patagonia across the street is telling. Orvis is much more of an apparel line than fishing and like others pointed out, its pretty tough to try and cast a line in downtown seattle. But if they're pushing clothing I...

    WDFW salt water survey

Just what area you fished, how you fished (beach, boat, etc.), where you fished (they had a list of beaches since I only beach fished) and what you fished for.

    Makin' bacon

I'm unashamed of my bacon tastes. I like it just shy of being crispy. Not limp to the point where its still mostly uncooked fat but I dislike cronching my way though bacon (but I won't turn down crunchy bacon mind you). Also actually curing bacon is a thing I've done previously but not in many...

    Vibram or felt sole..?

I use the vibram with aluminum hex cleats on my korkers for the river (well for the beach as well because I'm lazy and don't change them out) unless I'll be in someone's drift boat or raft, when I swap them out for felt. For floating in my watermaster I usually stick with the cleats, they...

Post your first fish of 2025 here

Went out for the first time this year, felt good . . . caught my first stick of the year. Then got summoned by the SO to pick them up with their bike because of a flat tire.

    Lake etiquette very poor today

Yep! Well congrats on the first trip out! Sorry to indicate you had a bad day when clearly you didn't. Thats what I get for making judgements driving by too fast on 20

    Lake etiquette very poor today

Could also just be wrong! Two man raft slightly deflated on the bed of a truck? Maybe I'm just projecting at me putting my kayak/raft in the bed of my truck

    Lake etiquette very poor today

No, drove by a guy with a two person raft at the offramp of 5 and 20, drove back by pass lake on the way home and saw the same raft. Although given @jeradjames comment that may have been him as I hit the highway around 11something.

    Lake etiquette very poor today

I'll say that I saw that guy getting off the expressway and loading up his raft on my way back home (and I assume you on the lake on the way out and back), he didn't look like he was having a good day.
