It's not really about the speed, but rather a pedal kayak's ability to visit every part of a lake with complete ease and little effort...regardless of wind direction or intensity, never needing an anchor and holding a position in the desired orientation without the flyrod ever leaving your hand.

Compared to a pedal kayak ALL inflatables without motors are slugs on the water!

Only rod I had fail during initial use was a brand new 5 wt Sage X. Reel seat butt fell off because they only used a tiny blob of glue to attach it to the rosewood shaft...resulting in the flyreel going to the bottom of the lake. Not impressed with Sage's response or their rod build quality...

I have a couple pair of image stabilized Canon binos (10X & 12X). IS is a complete game-changer....totally put the Swarovskis I used at work to shame. IS makes the image remain incredibly steady without any support.

A recumbent can often provide a comfortable solution to such issues. Have done many century and double centuries on conventional road bikes and recumbents...there's simply no comparison in terms of comfort.
