    Bad outing for FlyFish Dan

he gets recommended to me all the time on youtube. my take, he is a typical youtube superstar. gives casting advice videos, but cant seem to cast very well. if you call him out on something bullshit, he always is quick to reply with excuses or justifications thinks he is gods gift to angler, a...

    Bugger/Leech Leader formula?

so my favorite way to fish leeches is under a indicator (iras foam style or a thingamabobber if you dont need to fish deep). Letting them work and drift in the wind, 2 on a leader, is a deadly formula esp over the transition zones in the lake (drop off, steep banks, etc). If there is no wind a...

    Tippet Rings, Droppers

i prefer to tie my dropper to the eye of the first hook, using a standard clinch knot and a tippet one size smaller.

    The Mountain Bike Thread

im going to call this wrong unless you can specifically state the RCW for me, as I made a dilligent effort to double check my assumtion. Washington law specifically allows riders to ride two abreast, and in group riding scenarios it is safer as it requires drivers to make a safe pass (and a...

its more of a description of the bike then the riding done on it. where you take it is just up to rider skill and what risks they are after. "trail" bikes are generally full suspension mountain bikes with geometrey that is decent at climbing and descending. meduim suspension travel (more then...

thats part of why i love riding my gravel bike. its underbiked enough that i walk the really dangerous sections, but its also underbiked enough to have fun on places a modern bike wouldnt even blink an eye. low risk, max fun.

watching the pro men ride the "seattle" line on bomber at Camp Sekani in Spokane this weekend was fun. Downhill mountain bikers in 2022 are insane.

    Float Tube Tips

first, take an old stuff sack and attach an anchor rope to it (many ways to do this) and some sort of "reel" to hold the anchor rope. next, rig a ~10 foot rope to the d rings on my tube... then clip a carabiner to that rope., it should be long enough to extend a few feet behind the float tube...

    The Mountain Bike Thread

its honestly no different then riding a loaded touring bike at that point. not great fun but 100 percent doable esp considering how wide range modern mtb gearing systems are. the worst thing about ebikes is yielding to them. i always yield to the climbing rider (the right thing to do) but...

not enough for me. for each great story, there is a story of failure. id like my bike to not have lots of failure stories all over the internet. that said, some Chinese carbon is better then others, and gernerally the Taiwan carbon is better overall. the problem is carbon is not forgiving to...

yep, over torqued bolts, dropping something like a wrench on the frame, etc. in the wrech example,. it could just leave a tiny scratch but under the paint the carbon layup can delaminate. i love carbon, but i need to know the owner or buy it new to really trust it.
