    NFR Good news!!!

Hey hey now... dawgin' Skynrd is getting close to crossing that there line now... KR always sucked and he especially sucked after he appropriated every Alabama redneck's favorite song, me included. My boys the Dexateens said it best: Lower Alabama is the real LA, stop playing that shit on the...

    What is this?

Same here Zak. I thought the original post was a joke. I never noticed the lack of crickets here but I sure do miss the lightning bugs.

SFR Fishing Foods (food near fishing)

Depending on the time of your last trip, the owner may have changed. Food and politics are the same.

SFR Fishing Foods (food near fishing)

If you're skittish, maybe not your place but any time I'm within an hour of Toppenish, I make beeline for Los 3 Panchos for a burrito, usually chicharone. My wife goes for the chicken tacos. The meat is slow cooked on a pit over apple wood out front.

SFR Fishing Foods (food near fishing)

Sadly the Hungry Bear is closed and the property is for sale. An alternative that's adds about 15min to the trip to Forks is the Blackberry Cafe in Joyce.

NFR Passing Cars Correctly with Space

I'm back and forth between Maple Valley and Beaver a few times a month and this^^ is so frustrating. I'm also a max 5mph over the posted limit sort and stick to the right lane and or use pullouts. However, that's the exception. Summer is goddawful so I do the drive in the very early AM...

    Non-Fly Jig Twitching pointers

My guess is that it will be rain dependent similar to last year. If the coho get kegged up in the Quilleute, then I'm fine with it (but disappointed) as long as the tribes also limit netting. Otherwise the whole run will get hoovered up before they can get up the rapid into the Sol Duc at...

    Non-Fly Jig Twitching pointers

I'm going to try this during the fall coho run on my homewater. I'll use a smallish slip float (maybe one of the weighted ones) with bobber stops above and below the float. That will let me dial in the right depth as well as swing the jig across the current w/o the float sliding all the way down...

    NFR What Are You Reading

Yep, big Mieville fan! The third book in Tinfoil was my favorite - back to the Signalman character. Kiernan is at her weirdest in the anthologies I think. Recently read Vile Affectations which was I thought was super but my wife put down within 5min. She doesn't like scary movies either...

    NFR What Are You Reading

High on my 'to-read' list, probably next. Loved Station 11 both book and TV series. Currently simul-reading Dark Matter by Crouch and a limited edition anthology From the Wasteland - short stories inspired by the TS Elliott poem. Just finished re-reading the Tinfoil Dossier, a trilogy mixing...

    Non-Fly Jig Twitching pointers

I like the Nightmare pattern and I tie them very simple. White jig head. Black rabbit strip tied in at the bend to leave a shank length tail, palmer forward to the head, add a red collar of some sort of feather and call it good. As ChadK notes, a rubber worm works just as good but I have a...

NFR Stoked on surfing/Stoked about a surf shop in Seaside, OR

First time this big girl has worn wax in about 10 years. I normally grab shorter and lighter boards but the wife and I will chase some knee high slop tomorrow so what the hell. 9’6” McTavish Original circa 2005. Real deal imported from Aus, no Surftech pop out. Tons of rocker so turns decent...

Prepare for the influx of dirtbags!

I'd encourage the new folks to consider the 'New Posts' functionality as there are a lot of not-fishing or fishing-adjacent posts that are very valuable from gardening, bread making, to music and cars. Also, there is the Salmon, Steelhead and Other Sea-runs forum that probably has a lot of...

Prepare for the influx of dirtbags!

Would it be weird to spend a fortune on a bass boat to fly fish for carp? Can you catch one on a centerpin? Also asking for a friend...

    Beach Fishing Crescent Bay?

I've seen coho swim under my board while surfing there several times. I've always thought Toungue Point would be fun to fish when you can walk way out on a minus tide but never seen anyone doing it.

    NFR EV Home Plug in?

We have a Tesla charger in our place on the coast installed by the previous owners. We don't have a Tesla (f*ck Elon) but it works fine with an adapter on other cars. Later installed a JuiceBox in our primary residence for our PHEV. We had an electrician install a dedicated circuit for the...
