    Polyleader question

Mike Frodin video on YouTube he calls basically an Albright knot. For attaching a leader to a fly line with no loop at the end. If you try it make sure to double over a bit long. This will give you room to cut the tag where you like and or cover over with UV cure so the leader doesn’t get hung...

How "Humpy" PS populations have changed.

Curt, what about the yearly pink returns on our neighbors to the north ? Is this due to much bigger & better stream environments ? Though I do read of yearly fluctuations from up north. And one would think with such a large and mostly intact stream environment that the Skagit would have maybe...

    Ocean Coho Leaders

And there is the Mad river youtube video on how they make their own loops in fly lines for guys like Flip Pallot etc. They use 10lb maxima for the knots. maybe I should have tried that method last year on my OBS when i had to make a new loop instead of using mono chord thread ?

Maybe using the Mantis shrimp patterns from the tropics as a starting point ?

    Ocean Coho Leaders

I use the mikael frodin way of attaching a leader to a fly line or poly leader with a bad or no loop. as he says in the video it’s basically an Albright knot. Poly leaders are notorious for me if i nail knot the leader on then get a strong fish on and the nail knot strips the coating right off...

    Official Beach Line Thread

Nick, do you think its because they make rods so much faster/stiffer these days or fly lines are not made with the same quality as in the past or a combination of both ? I have purchased two tropical fly lines in the last 2 years that were supposed to be 8 weight but both really cast best on my...

I have the OBS Tropical in a floater. Like the line for how it loads (Seems correct per listed weight) and running line part shoots nicely. Use it around here but it’s little to stiff on cold days.

Creatchr, how does this 40+ cast, shoot line ? Compare to a OBS say ? Asking as I need to replace an old OBS line I have hung onto way too long. On a side note I bought a SA mastery tropical grand slam eight weight for a vacation a few years ago. Nice line and shoots out great but for me this...

    Puget Sound

Nothing going on at NS beach today. Many boats out again. Talked to a couple guys pulling their boat out and they said 3 pinks No coho. Saw one boat in close loose what looked like a pink. Nothing from the beach but the rain was nice for a change.

    6wt beach rod........

My 2 cents is with a switch like rod stripping the line back is a little more work and in the salt i do a bunch of stripping. Yes i get longer cast’s but as fatbilly said if you’re using a head type line stripping back can be a pain. Trouble with OBS is if it’s very windy it wont punch through...

    Puget Sound

My one fish this morning was like a spinning top. Finally I looked him in the eye and told that fish I wanted my fly back. Course that just didn’t help.

    Puget Sound

Fished this am on the outgoing tide. Finally saw some fish around but they were very picky. Tried all the usual stuff with no luck. No wind and no current to start as it was flat calm. Small rezies around with a few larger boils to make guesses at. Finally wind started so with a guess I put on a...

    Marine Area 11

Try looking at John’s sporting goods as he really has the trolling gear thing dialed in. Nice instructions right down to the line/leader in inches and the lures. Of course on Facebook. And if anyone wants some other discussion with theories thrown around go to piscatorial pursuits on this...

As I’m sure everyone has seen MA 9 now closed for Chinook but stays open for hatchery coho & pinks. Now if some of those would swim close to the beaches near me.

    Snohomish/Skykomish get screwed

Closing a stream to protect a Man made salmon or steelhead run ! Yup it’s being run by Idiots. And what a Giant success this has shown to be on the Stilly. Grand recovery for that river. Just like stopping hatchery steelhead and salmon plants. Brilliant !

Using the older OBS for my 6 and 8 rods. They cast just ok. And the OPST commando head with short sink tips. Good for windy times. Also use a Tropical OBS I got for vacation time in the islands. That line casts better but I have to do a little stretching to keep it from coiling to much.

Would i be able to row from the mouth of the cascade river back up to the marblemount boat launch?

We used to take the drift boat and float from marblemount down to the cascade and then back up again but that was with an outboard motor on the back. Even with the outboard at full throttle it was a slow go to get back upriver. As Haunted said you could drag your boat back up to the launch but...
