    Chum 101

Yup fished for many years using float & jig (spinning rod) no reason it wouldn’t work with the fly rod. Just have to weight the fly to get down. Just started trying that with my fly rod here on our NS rivers when the game department gave all our chum to commercial fishing years ago.

    Green River

Try looking around auburn and behind all those stores around the mall and from there up to the bridges around kent. many gear guys work all those spots. not certain about the safety aspect but I would be careful wherever you go these days.

SRC Shows... What do they mean?

then there is the weather change thing, like when we have a dry spell and the fish are in that bad mood you know they are there but it’s all no shows. Then it rains and the water comes alive with fish jumping, rolling etc. have seen it enough times on the river to be convinced the fish are happy...

Not to mention the survey they asked us many years ago on how we would like to see the Snohomish River property used ? Especially the old dump tire fire are. Of course nothing was ever done.

    Best Wader Repair Technique

Think I am going to try High-N-Dry waders next. Like that they were born out of a commercial use need and have a good reputation and the price is right plus a handy repair kit cause they know you are going to get a leak sometime.

    Rain

Just got back from vacation in the Islands where we had more rain than I would have expected. I tried to bring that rain back with me but alas no luck so far. Fingers crossed.

    Trailer Hook on your spoon?

wouldn’t call it a trailer hook so much, but we have added a swivel to various spoons. Dick nites come to mind to help in the hook up landing ratio like you would with a hot shot or Brads plug. There are some who use a trailing hook on plugs when on anchor in deep holes for coho.

    Another leaky wader situation

Bought a new pair of Simms about 6 years ago with no problems. Then last summer I thought I would try my old Reddington zip ups one day. Wow I had no idea there were that many leaks in them. Did they they develop leak’s hanging in my garage ? Now I will have to do the full emersion test by...

    Freshwater coho flies

I always try to remember how small of a size of that little local spoon these fish will bite. Especially early in the fall. I try to use a hook with a wide gap for tying.

    Puget Sound

End of September for me as it’s just to hard to drive past the river with fish rolling. This year is much different as fish have been stealthy or sneaking up river. I’m blaming the darn dry weather for it. ready for fog, rain and clouds again.

    Puget Sound

Soldiers for Salmon this weekend. Oh boy lots of boats out. Didn’t get a picture but fun watching them come back in around 1pm. Docks were full up and imagine the boat ramp at 10th street was very busy this afternoon.

For those who carry on the river

I want to carry. I do worry about many places now that I walk into. Heck I bet the whole Snohomish/Skykomish valley is unsafe now ! Pretty bad when you have to worry about just driving into Ben Howard parking lot. I know if something goes bad the police Won’t be on my side they will be...

    Area #13

How do you think the folks down south feel about them closing the Columbia only a short time after wdfw let the commercials net. And with one of the best returns for chinook and coho now showing strong also ? The statement “we need more time to figure this out“ ? You all (wdfw & odfw) have had...

    Coho jigs

I have only caught one silver using the float and jig technique. But that doesn’t mean it won’t work more often. That one time was in rolling faster water with up and down jig movement from the river. Maybe tip the jig with prawn or egg ?
