Oh, yeah, I've figured it out. The boats came down the East Fork, which dumps in above the West Branch boat launch (but sometimes empties below the ramp when there's a lot of water).

Lake Billy Chinook is big and can get windy. That sounds like a good boat for it. Same for Simtustus. Heck, all the Cascade Lakes can get windy in a hurry.

Most definitely. If you do happen to get access to a boat, I've had some good days casting to the north bank of the Met Arm of the reservoir. Caught my first bully there.

It's been a while, but I used to fish lake Simtustus a lot. Both trout and smallmouth are available, but it really helps to have a boat. It can be fun to cruise the bank and chuck wooly buggers and stip.

I remember seeing boats on the river above the West Branch boat launch on the West Fork of the Satsop, but I can't figure out where they put in. Are they just putting in on the East Fork at Schafer? Every time I've spied the East Fork, it's been super skinny to the point of being unnavigable...

You can ship them ground only and they must be identified has containing flammable gas. This would be a nifty thing to add to a drift boat as well. Tempting....

I just use a bicycle U-lock and have it go through the rower seat frame (former boat) or rear leg brace. And cover 'em.
