What have you done for your boat lately?

Well, this has been in the works for awhile. Finally pulled the trigger when some factory remanufactured units became available at almost $1000 off new. As luck would have it, my unit got beat up in shipping resulting in grinding noises from the lower unit. Because the nearest authorized service...

Strange, weird or odd or whatever beach finds thread….

I used to find needles around the parking lot in the shopping center where my business was in East Bremerton. There was a form on the Kitsap Public Health website to pin the location and usually they would come pick up/dispose within a day.

    SFR Dog owners warning

This summer my wife was chastised by other dog owners for having our dog ON leash in a county park WITH a leash law. I say double the fine.

March Madness #5 - Anyone interested?

In! I still have a couple flies left from my win a few years ago!

Full sink vs multi density for boat salmon

I had decent luck this summer with the Compact Type 9 in open water basically targeting the same areas I do when I'm mooching, but specifically looking for the bait balls in the upper 20-30 ft of the water column. I think the 3/5/7 will work just fine for that upper water column work.

    NFR Let's talk about generators

This is a timely thread I've been considering the same thing. The problem with my property is the well pump has its own electrical service that I share with my neighbor, so if I want power in the house AND water I'd need 2 generators 😞. Not sure there is any other solution for that.

    NFR Soft truck toppers

I have a Softopper on my Frontier. I picked it up off Craigslist for $350 after failing to find any used fiberglass canopies and not wanting to shell out $3k for a new one. Overall I like it. It's basically an enclosed bimini top. For the most part I just leave it on year round, I've taken it...

SFR Support your local fly shop

This one hit home for me as an ex niche/hobby retail small business owner of a long established spot. Everything in this is spot on. The stress, anxiety, and frustration ended up being more than I could handle and luckily I was able to find a buyer and get out. I made it a bit over 5 years after...

Sage is no longer on my radar

I'd guess the average days per year is closer to 5 than 50.

What have you done for your boat lately?

Saltwater is not kind to trailer jacks. Just swapped out for a new one. This one has a grease fitting up top so I can fill the gears full of grease. Hopefully get a little more life out of this one. Also a handy tip is using this corrosion inhibitor on all nuts and bolts on the trailer...

    Official Beach Line Thread

They discontinued the Type 3 and the Float compact. They wouldn't tell me why they discontinued it but they told me if I told them what kind of fish I was fishing for and what rod I was using they would point me in the right direction for a substitute . I did just see this in an email...

    Satellite Cell Service

I believe T-Mobile is partnered with Starlink on the satellite texting front. So all carriers will likely have some form of it in the future.

    8 Day Idaho Cutthroat Bender

Just got back from my yearly trip to our neighbor to the east. It's approaching about 18 years for me visiting the same area now. I've missed a few years but was especially fortunate to be able to get to go this year and for a few extra days than normal. I recently sold my business and am in the...

    Salmon rod weight

Fish the 6wt! It'll be a little more exciting if you hook into one of the 8+lb hook nose Coho but doable for sure. 6ft of 15-20lb Maxima Ultragreen is what I use for leader. You are about to get 100 different answers to that question though 😉.

    Outboard help

You'll get a hang of the carbs pretty quick. It can be a little intimidating the first time, I know it was for me on my old Yamaha 40hp 2 stroke and I have a mechanical background, but all with fuel injected stuff. In the end I had those things off and taken apart and reassembled and tweaked and...

    Puget Sound

Another fun day with a buddy and his brother today out on the Sound. Nice running into @jasmillo and @Kfish at the boat ramp in the morning. I recognized that seafoam green whaler even in the pitch dark :D. We covered a ton of water today. I committed to the fly all day, and my buddy fly fished...

    Puget Sound

Did some mooching today and had a great day with a buddy. First herring in the water for both of us produced hookups within 20ft on the drop. I actually landed a few nice 8-10lb hatchery Chinook today before I got on the board with the Coho. Highlight though was fishing my 6wt with a type 9 in...
