    Barbless or pinched down. I use pinched down for the floating fly for "hopper dropper" and they stay on. Most of my fishing is catch and release.

    If you mash down the barb on a barbed floating fly and tie your dropper above that, it won't slip off.

    I have had good luck with hair wing wets, like a McGinty, Profesional. Also any red wet fly. Fish under a Hopper or popping bug
