Went out recently to try to catch a new species to me. Fished a T-14 shooting head on a 8 wt with crawfish patterns drifted along the bottom. Didn’t take long to get the first grab. Decent fight.
The pattern remained the same as we sporadically hooked fish in the lumpy water churned by west winds pushing all the way across the big lake.
Freshwater drum are a cool fish that pulls hard. I hear they sight fish for them in the eastern basin a few hours away but our area doesn’t have a ton a shallow rocky areas. Boats coming in a few weeks so I’ll be able to explore a bit more later in the summer.
