@Old406Kid, did you end up looking into these any further? In an older thread
@Sir Homey mentions that, in his opinion, the Outcast Summit is more or less a copy of the Caddis Nevada.
I have an Outcast Summit. I also have a Wilderness Lite. Both are good choices if you’re looking to shave some weight off your kit, the Wilderness Lite being the lighter of the 2. I think the Outcast is 7 lbs.
I found the Wilderness tube to be lacking in rigidity. I’m sub 200 lbs and still I find the Wilderness tube folds up somewhat when sitting in it. Both tubes have a simple sling seat but you can expect to sit lower in the water in the Wilderness.
Materials-wise, to achieve the lower weight the Wilderness uses thinner materials, thinner stripping apron etc.
For me, in the end, I’d...
No idea if that's true or not.
I keep thinking that I'd like a light tube for hiking to a few lakes. But I can never get myself to justify the money for an Outcast or a Wilderness Lite because I'm just not that much of a stillwater lake fisherman and I already have a Fish Cat 4 (~16lbs and foam seat). I trust Outcast/Wilderness more than I trust Caddis as far as quality. But it probably depends on your use case. The hike-in lakes I'd be likely to fish are far more lowland/foothills than alpine and a puncture or bladder failure would just mean a slightly chilly swim and hike back to the car. Not anything life threatening.
So for me, $90 for a Caddis Nevada might be worth the money if I ran across one at a local Costco.
