Why in the world does WA still have paper-only fishing licenses?

I hope they have genuinely updated this. As of March 1 you still couldn't print out your license. You could print out a receipt that shows you purchased a license, but not the license itself. I would love hear about the genius brain trust behind that.
the article dated May 4 says you can. Gotta have catch records for kids under 15, crab, salmon, steelhead. They would have access to a smart phone or just not fish or what else. HAS ANYONE GONE TO A REGIONAL OFFICE TO GET A LICENSE SINCE THE PAPER SHORTAGE?

Waterproof paper shortage? 🤣🤣🤣

I guess WDFW vendors don't have access to the Amazon.

One can simply buy a cheap pack of laser printer compatible water proof "petroleum-based paper" and print out fishing licenses and unlimited catch cards.

Could be this for sure. Large organizations (govt, private, etc) all seem to get sucked into complicated supply chain processes that cause problems.

But I also wonder if that amazon paper is not the same stuff that the WDFW license printing machine uses. I feel like the license paper is a lot thicker and tougher than even the waterproof thermal paper receipts I end up with printed elsewhere.

Or maybe it has to do with whatever product/supplier is required to have the paper printed front and back like the licenses are.
