Awesome Dogs of PNW

Borders do a good job of herding kids, too . . .

Truffle hunter!
My boy just likes to “mark” the location (so we can dig later ;-).

Rigby has pulled hard on the leash since we got him from the shelter at about 4 years old. Today I tried this headcollar and he instantly stopped pulling. It's like magic. I can hold the leash loosely and he walks at my knee, instead of at full extension. I wish I had started with it when we got him!

Good to know, might have to try it. Gracie pulls for the first 5 minutes of her walk as she’s very excited but settles in for the rest. I’ve been using a harness with lead clipped to the front rather than the top and it helps, but at just one year and 70 pounds she’s pretty strong especially when cats are sighted. Been to 2 obedience classes out of 10 scheduled, she’s very chill and trainer loves her. I signed her up to get her under control when she meets other dogs and people, she’s just overly friendly and thinks everyone loves her as much as she loves them. Also need to work on recall. Big plus of dog training Is there’s an agility course to learn on after class and they are just finishing installation on a diving pool. Should be ready in another week.

Rigby is great with people and kids but aggressive toward other dogs. The new headcollar stops him from lunging at other dogs, too. It doesn't seem cruel at all. He doesn't like it much, but is rapidly associating it with going on walks so he's getting ok with it.

We’ve had Labs in the past, and the tennis ball had a life expectancy of a few hours. Squeaky toys being similar. Now our Toller is 8, a smaller dog (similar to a Border Collie) with what you’d think to be a more delicate mouth. That is deceiving. That tennis ball is crushed in minutes. Squeaky toys don’t stand a chance. And brains? This guy does calculus. Does your guy do calculus? 😉

Yeah, our bassett puppy is always calculating how to get another snack...

My guy is a terrific truffle hunter. He only marks their position to come back later for the dig.
Walking with Rio is not an aerobic exercise. He finds truffles every 100 feet.
You could be a rich man if you found a buyer for those truffles. BTW, all dog owners, those foxtails are out!

Goose is getting bigger. He's loving the river and he'll be out at the beach in Westport this weekend. He's passed one puppy class and is onto the second. Not sure if his ears are going to pop up or not, but he's trying his best.

Already delt with 2 bouts of giardia and working on roundworm right now, which isn't super unexpected since he's around chickens, goats, and sheep all day.

Don't let the pups get into rodent carcasses or eat coyote poop:
