Truck campers: Looking for lightweight options that won't break the bank

I do like that Moonlander X, really nice.

I have the Project M on my '24 Tundra and am still happy with it. It costs about twice as much, but it has solar panels and a charging station, a full king sized bed (slideout), a remote control fan with multiple speeds that can be set to suck air in or blow it out. And touch control LED lights. It's so light (under 400lbs) that I didn't really need the bump stops and air shocks I installed, and I still have the bed free for normal use (if I want to throw my inflated raft or kayak in the back). Just enough of a camper for me without the 1000lb load.
Pictures please (from a Tundra owner).

Update: It’s looking more likely that we’ll be going with a hardside vs. a pop top. Gal’s main concerns are ease of use and ability to comfortably work from inside. The extra shenanigans of setting up a pop top are a deterrent, and we all know keeping her happy is the number one priority!

i am with u. i went from a pop up to a van - cuz it has an accessible toilet. that said, the pop up was nice, since 90% of the time, you dont need to have the top popped up ! and i could take it off, and put it on a base, and roll into garage.
i am all about working up into what u really need. this van i have is overkill, and i wish i would have started with something like this, but more minimal - and then added the $ to the stuff i want.

at what point do we stop calling this "camping"?

probably a topic for an entirely new thread (sorry, I don't care enough to start one, just enough to maybe derail this one....kidding...kinda).

All that said, all these truck 'tiny homes' are pretty rad!

I disagree. Having started on ground sleeping, campers, to pop-up tent trailers, to trailers, to 5th wheels, to class C to class A's, to cabins, it was not about me but my family.

I may be near great fishing, but my family experiencing nature is far more important.

We’re still gonna be shitting in the woods. :poop:🌲

Everyone’s got a “line in the sand” somewhere! To me, camping is tent or less. Camper is this thing.

Edit: this thing is a camper according to WA DOL too! ;)

Camping is an activity.

I’ve seen local some using Ford transit vans, extended length/height with all wheel drive. 3475 cargo capacity.
Still way more expensive than the rig I ended up with. I do love vans but the newer ones like you describe are $$$$.
