Click pawl reels are the Harley Davidson of the river

I prefer the only sound anyone hear from me is when I yell out, "FISH ON!"

It's even better when I get it on poorly produced video & then reel like hell to get my 10" cutty 'on the reel'...

In all seriousness though, I really don't care what people prefer...I just happen to prefer a more subdued approach. I've never been actually bothered by hearing someone's spring/pawl clicker thingy sing....

To me, fly reels are just that - equipment. I don't fetishize my tools. I've got a tidy collection of Hardys with more Perfects and Bougles than I care to admit, and they're great for light-duty stuff...but when I'm chasing fish that REALLY pull, I prefer reels that aren't as delicate and fussy. I've had more issues with the "pinky out" reels than the rest of my drag reels combined.
That's cause you actually fish with them rather than put them in a case next to a hardback copy of some book you didn't read.

Since I am a Spring and Pawl nutcase I really enjoyed this thread. I was wondering what clickers people were using that were deafening other people on the river as my fishing buddy says he never hears my Marquis screaming. I realize now that most on this forum are in the Zen of returning Big Fish.

Nearly all of mine, from $3 cheapos nearly as old as I am, like Vernley, Pflueger Sal-Trout, Bronson to higher quality brands from Hardy, Sage (made by Hardy), Redington CT, Ross Colorado (v 1.0), and a Shamburg hand made.
