Fly fishing near Sandpoint, Idaho

Hi, my wife and I are nearing retirement and looking at vacation property near Sandpoint, ID. Though obviously Sandpoint is on Lake Pend Oreille, I am not much into gear fishing. I am not looking for “hotspots” but just curious about the fly fishing in that area. I know the Clark Fork and Kootenai rivers are relatively close but wondering how long of a drive is decent fishing from Sandpoint. Thanks.

I would suggest putting a fly in any water you can access in that area, running or still.

Shore of pendoreille has great smallmouth fishing
