Madness.... Madness

A friend of mine went to Nazareth high school. He gave me the lowdown this morning on this as we walked on the track at our local gym. Later, I walked a few laps with another woman who’s brother, Mike Johnson, (from Lock Haven, PA) might have been the best PA high school wrestler ever - a 4 time state champion who was never taken down.
Check this out but I believe Cary Kolat was not only a 4-time state (1989-1992) champion but also a 4-time PIAA Outstanding State Championship Wrestler. Cary is now coaching at the United States Naval Academy. I had the good fortune to see Cary Wrestle in the Spokane Arena in the World Cup.

Johnson and Kolat are 2 of only 13 PIAA (state wide) champions ever. Kolat is a more recent champion than Johnson, and probably better known today. What makes Johnson unique among wrestlers is that he was never taken down - perhaps akin to a football team never being scored on. Johnson went on to wrestle at Pitt where he lost in the NCAA finals in overtime as a freshman AFTER hurting his knee. He was never the same afterwards.

Anyone willing to kick $20 towards the charity of the bracket winner's choice? If I win, I'm thinking Mayfly Project, which is also near the top of the general board here.

I like this idea…I’m in

I'd be down for that....

This Indiana Wyoming game is hard to watch...
Yes it was. And that's what nearly all basketball was 20 years ago. Think Ben Wallace era Pistons. Much better entertainment product when the game is more open and fluid. In my opinion, it is the best sport for showcasing athleticism.

Gotta love evenly matched teams. Some of the 16 seeds, and 8-9 seeds should be really good games. When they meet a #1 seed, probably a blood bath. But there is always that chance of an upset. Last night's games were really entertaining to watch.

The game last night definitely picked up, suspiciously close to after I posted that comment 🤔 though it was still packed of mind-numbingly sloppy turnovers by whoever on Wyoming.

This Bryant vs. Wright State game has been a thriller from the start. Evenly matched and each team playing their best. It would probably take me 10-15 guesses to name which states both of these schools are in, even after the commentators said one is Mid-west and the other New England.

just over an hour to get your picks in!

I'm in. I'll need to think about what group you all should donate to.
I guess I'm out. I made all my picks and thought I confirmed my bracket and was playing, but ESPN says no. Oh, well. If I like the winner's charity, I might donate anyway, but no promises.
