Fishing this weekend

Just Hatched
Hey all

Going to have some free time this weekend to hopefully get out for the first time this year. Looking for any recommendations around the Albany/Corvallis/Eugene area that is good fishing this time of the year. I typically don't get out this early in the year so I am not entirely sure what some good bodies of water/rivers to look at. I definitely will be reaching out to Mitch at Two Rivers, just looking for extra opinions.

Open to driving a bit but would like to stay relatively close.

Thanks in advance!

Great, thanks!!
Just a heads up that most systems down that way are either blown out or will be by then with the weather we’ve been having. Middle Fork is already higher than ideal and on the rise. McKenzie is really a boat fishery, especially in high water. Your best bet will be to head east for the Deschutes.

I'm going to give away a hot spot. I can't fish it anymore ( old age) so want others to enjoy it. Back in the days when the fly tyer expo was in Eugene, several of us would drive to the end of Deadmond Ferry road. There's a place to park and you can hike up river from there. When the river is in shape, the March Brown hatch can be very good and dries and emergers can be very productive and fun. This is old info and there might be some changes but back then there were two logs that could be used to launch or take out a drift boat. I saw it used for that purpose once and I couldn't understand why they just didn't continue down to Armitage Park where there is a nice launch which is much easier. They had to have a long long rope to reach the boat from the trailer. They were just starting when I hiked in and apparently got the boat out okay as it was gone when I came back.

Good stuff. I will keep an eye on making it out there. Thanks for sharing!
