Good deals on Echo rods near Portland?

Freshly Spawned
Hey all, I'm looking to pick up my first switch rod as I recently moved to the North OR coast and would like to get into some steelhead fishing. There's a couple places around here that have the rod I'm eyeing (Echo SR 71010), but they've all been retail price. I'm wondering if anyone knows if any fly shops closer to Portland or Eugene might have better deals? I need to get a whole rig so I was thinking maybe someone has a deal to get free line with a rod and reel or something similar. Googling deals didn't help too much so I'm hoping some of you might know. I've been pretty busy organizing from the move, but I'm looking forward to sharing some of my experiences on the water once I get a rod. Thanks in advance and feel free to message me if you're looking to sell one!

329 is already a pretty good price for a switch rod.. maybe look for a place that offers combo's with a free line or something like that.

If you were to purchase online, Stillwater Fly Shop out of Sunriver OR, offers a $70.00 credit that you could apply to a line and shipping would be free as well. I’ve used them before and they’ve been great to deal with.

Good advice here already. I'm as much of a bargain hunter as anyone, trust me, but also love my local flyshops.

My thoughts, ask your local shop if they price match. I've had shops that can't offer a discount, but can match an advertised price.

My $0.02

That's exactly it. MAP = minimum ADVERTISED price. So it doesn't necessarily mean they can't cut a deal on the spot.

bought my last three rods from them, 5 mins from my house...very core, not a clothes shop.
I'd be looking for a used 8 wt switch myself if it was for coastal steel, they are a handful in winter flows
