I was looking at my upcoming schedule and decided to venture out even with pretty gusty winds forecasted. The end of the stillwater year is rapidly approaching and I just don't know if I'll have another day before the cold hits.
The first pond had another angler on it and I decided I wanted to be alone. I must be getting antisocial in my old age
A short drive and a little hike in and I found lower water then I've ever seen on my back up pond. Working my way through the mud I kicked away and headed to the upwind side of the pond.
I quickly had a strike and a miss so I knew there was at least one fish in the pond. It didn't take me long before I felt a solid grab. The fish took off and had a spectacular jump.
On the board:

Fish number two was a short while later and very similar to fish number 1.

I was pretty happy by this point but the fish kept coming:

These fish were strong as heck and put up a great fight!

This sun halo was spectacular:

I only had a few hours to fish this day between school drop off and pickup. Water temps were 52 degrees with a strong cool breeze.
Ended up with 8 to hand, all about 18-21 inches with several misses mixed in. Big green jig craw/leech is all I used. Every time I thought about switching flies I got hammered.

Unfortunately I only marked depths to about 21 feet from the usual 25+. Unless we get some moisture this pond may soon fall on some hard times. Usually catching all one age group of fish is not a good sign of things to come...
But you just never know what you will find in these seeps without trying:

Hope everyone is getting out for some last minute fall fishing!
Billy
