    NFR RIP Capt Insano Emeritis

He was truly an interesting and entertaining character on this forum, the kind of presence I'll miss without having ever met in person. Those close to him must miss him dearly. Condolences to his friends and family, especially with such a sudden loss.

Now that would be satisfying! I wonder how myneighbors would react to me blasting away at the nest in the ground.

Old fishermen w// bad eyes, do you prefer polarized readers or a separate pair of readers?

I use granny-style readers since bifocals make me woozy (I admit I have not spent the time to get used to them). I don't feel it is a huge time impact switching between sunglasses and readers, or pulling readers out toward dusk, but am really interested to hear others' feedback.

    Yellowjacket equinox

Has anyone tried the foaming spray (Spectracide I think)? I have a ground nest in my yard that is kind of hard to access and to get away from in the dark, so I was thinking I'd douse them with the foam, then follow up with Seven. It looks like a pretty decent sized colony based on the in and...

NFR Rant: people suck at talking on the phone

I was jarred awake at about 10:00 the other night by a speaker phone conversation. My neighboring house is an air B&B, which in and of itself is kind of annoying. I am not sure which was worse: the speaker phone (and the associated increase in volume of voices on both ends of the...

NFR AI = More power required

Some of the projects I'm seeing lately make the "big" data centers I worked on in the late 90's / 2000's seem puny. There also seems to be a similar mad rush to build and occupy - it'll be interesting to see how the utilities keep up, or maybe don't in some areas, and like you said, who foots...

Tokeland dinged me for almost $250 as I accelerated from 30 to 50 mph leaving town. The officer claimed I was doing 50-something. I made my donation, recommended they use the funds for either new gear or training / calibration of existing and have not been back since. 5 years and I am still...

    We got these cicadas coming...

I remember summers in S TX when you could barely carry on a conversation outdoors. My dad and I used to sit in the back yard in lawn chairs and pick cicadas out of the tree with old Daisy spring-action BB guns. I trained my one and only retriever (really a rat terrier mutt) on cicadas one...

NFR Any actual good online "black friday" or "cyber monday" deals you found?

+1 on the Cream Ale. Never been to Rochester, but availability of half decent and affordable beer is a factor to consider when moving.

WE GOT THESE STOCKERS COMIN IN!!

Waaay back to fishing trout stocked rivers in TX I had a "corn" fly, inspired by cans of niblets discarded along public stretches of water. Best description is an egg hook with tight yellow wraps and sparse yellow hackle. Maybe it is time to tie a few and see if they will work on these stockers!
