    Puget Sound

Fished with @KFCDAVE this morning. Went 2-2 with a few missed grabs in the mix. Slow start and then it turned on, nicely.

I don’t buy spices online so no opinion there. I do however, highly recommend Spice World in Puyallup for those who live within decent driving distance. It’s an Indian market that has a massive isle of spices. They are by far, the freshest, most potent spices I’ve purchased locally. Super...

2/4 today. That seal (or its buddy) from yesterday chased down two of my fish this morning and succeeded in taking one off my line. Well, it didn’t take it off my line, I had to break the leader to get my line back as it was munching away. At least after it had a good meal it disappeared for a...

    Puget Sound

Fished from 5am-7pm, with an hour break in between. Went 3/5 on coho and broke off what I’m assuming was a nice king, given the brute force of the eat, tug, speed, and size when it jumped after popping my leader while I was strip setting. Only kept one coho as I was looking for something better...

That’s pretty cool looking! I rebuilt new beds this year using rough cut Alaskan yellow cedar. Only slightly more expensive than the hemlock boards you would get at the big box store and should last a lot longer. I’ve never lined my beds with anything but it seems like you’d be dealing with...

My flowering dill bed got hammered by aphids but the cleanup crew showed up just in time to save the harvest.

I usually find several in the yard each year. My cats love to hunt them down and “play” with them. I’m sure the hissing sound they make is part of the entertainment.

VMP, just curious, are you harvesting herring for bait or for eating?

I do remember your tomato growing posts on the old site and was secretly hoping you’d chime in for advice. Not that there aren’t other great tomato growers around here but it seems like you know a thing or two. If Skip was still with us I’d take his advice as well.

I’ts possible I’ve overwatered them? I don’t have a schedule per se, but generally a few times a week, always gently and at the soil level. I’ve applied 2 doses of “Tomato Tone” so far, in a wide ring around the plants. My raised bed tomatoes are doing fine with this. I’m located in Tacoma...

Here’s a pic of one of the plants. Took the mulch layer off per your suggestion. The leaves are supple until they brown off and die back. Then they are crusty. The yellowing works its way up the stem until the whole set of leaves is dead.
