Time to head too the hills!

The weathers nice and not to hot and the air is still clear (hopefully it will stay that way). I planned to head out on Tuesday, so I looked at the maps and chose a location. Not too long of a hike, a little over two miles minimum with options to press on the a few additional lakes. Out the...

    Bamboo in BC

Dave looks like another great trip. I always find you post to be a learning experience as I end up googling whatever classic wet flies you fished do see what they look like.

    Just Another High Lakes Report

Looks like you had a great trip. Your only short a coastal cutthroat and a lake trout and you would have caught all the "trout" available in the high lakes. I suppose a grayling could be added to that list as well.

Another rod tube option that can potentially hold two rods are the plastic tubes for storing collectable baseball bats.

Looks like a great time. That’s right up my alley and reminds me of a few spots in that general area

1st World Old Man Problem - Tendonitis

Get a theraband flex bar and do Tyler Twist exercises as part of your daily routine. You probably want a few flex bars in different resistance levels. My issue has been that once I’m over a flare up I stop the exercise till the next time. Preventing the next flare would be better...

    Bamboo in the rain.

Glad you guys made it out on this rainy friday. It looks like Mike has the earlier model wilderness lite which is what I have. I assume you have the inflated seat on yours. Do you think you site up that much higher? I really don't like the valves on these. Maybe splice one of these into...

The continuing adventures of the Black Pennell

Copepods or more specifically daphnia are a small zooplankton that can be major food source for trout. They can move up and down the water column filter feeding on algae. They move in a jerky, jumping swimming motion. They can be prolific forming "clouds" in the water. As I understand it...

    High Lakes

Most of my water weight is the 2 liter platypus bladder w/drink tube in my pack. I do frequently bring my water filter for longer hikes for refills. For this short hike I opted for a small secondary bottle. I feel that I drink more when I have a n accessible drink tube than having to pull a...

    High Lakes

Did my first hike in trip of the year. The rechargeable pump definitely is superior to the alternatives especially deflating. I do need to look at trimming a few pounds. My pack before water weighed 21.4 lb's then add probably 5lb water to the total. Just for my curiosity, after removing...

The continuing adventures of the Black Pennell

Every so often an obscure (at least to me) fly pattern emerges in discussions on the fly fishing bulletin boards. This year it’s been the Black Pennell. It started with Dave’s post and then by a few others. It’s somewhat surprising that I haven’t ventured into classic wet fly patterns for trout...

    High Lakes

I just picked up a Flextail max pump 3 today at the REI sale. Test inflation of my wilderness lite float tube. Inflation took ~5 minutes. Also used it to deflate in about 1/2 the inflation time. I’ll see how it goes in the field, but I’m still thinking about adding Boston valve in the...
